1. Mitch Snow v Tony Leone

Snow tries a lot of intricate armdrags and stuff like that, so he's more fun than the standard blowjob routine. Not bad.

2. Steve O v Nacho Barrera

This was really fun and I want more Nacho! I wish this had gotten a little more time as I was into it. Nacho bumped really weird and it gave the match a slightly "off" feeling, which helped it. The was one spot where Steve was on his back and Nacho went for a big splash, and Steve O kicked him off out of mid air. Like, legit. No part of Nacho was on the mat, and Steve just thrust his legs up, buried them in Nacho's tummy, and then kicked. I've never seen a spot like it before.

3. Tommy Rich v Rick Gantner

Bull Pain threw a really nice right hand very early in his career apparently. I wish this got more than 3 minutes.

4. Adrian Adonis v Mike Tolos

Adrian had gotten so obese here. Insane. He worked really slowly here and you could only catch little glimpses of his agility. Best part was post-match when he shoot splashes the jobber without the jobber expecting it, just doesn't pull that splash at all. Ouch.

5. Curt Hennig v Wahoo McDaniel – AWA title

This may be the least of their matches that I've seen, but it was a real good time nonetheless. I think Hennig puts over Wahoo's dangerous chops better than anybody in the AWA. Hennig ends up cheating to win, smacking Wahoo with a roll of dimes, then getting into the ring and punching him a few more times for good measure for the win. After the match Wahoo is bleeding everywhere and all the babyfaces come out to stretcher him out. I assume this set up some of their other matches as it seemed like the beginning of a feud. NOMINATE!

Mitch Snow v Tony Leone

Mitch Snow is sort of the king of smartass drop down spots as here he does a walk behind spot and just waits for Leone to come up so he can take him down with a headlock. Snow wins with a powerbomb.

Larry Zbyszko promo. Fun angry promo.

Weird video package of voiceovers over leading into a music video talking about how great the AWA is. EXTRA

Steve O v. Nacho Barrera

Nacho's early bumping was pretty wonderful and Steve O being such a putz he fell for the handshake trick was oddly befitting. Cool criss cross spot that ended with a hiptoss to Steve O and Barrera eating this crazed double kick where he launched himself wildly off Steve O's legs. Steve O won with the rope walk elbow.

Tommy Rich v. Rick Gantner

Another fun showing from the man who would become Bull Pain. He's just good at all the heel mannerisms and tactics and looks like a guy who should be doing something beyond job duty. Rich hit a nice crossbody here and won with the Thesz press.

Paul E. Dangerously promo. He chases Nelson off and starts shit talking Tommy Rich. Paul E's Tommy Rich impression is great. EXTRA

Adrian Adonis v. Mike Tolos

Pretty disappointing. Tolos is the kind of awkward guy I would expect to get really crushed by Adonis. Not so.

Nelson narrated highlight reel of Curt Hennig's history and heel turn. He runs down a list of Hennig's top contenders. This was a cool segment. EXTRA

Curt Hennig v. Wahoo McDaniel

Man I love Hennig from this era. He takes a god damned head bump off of a shoulder block, floats over only to get chopped, then ends up getting chopped while standing on the apron all in a quick sequence. One thing I really like about Hennig from this era is that while he can be chicken shit he comes off as a tough bastard who isn't afraid to get in the tough guys faces and take their best shots and he definitely does that here. This is slow moving but still keeps my interest largely due to Hennig's facial expressions, body language and bumps. Hennig mounting a rapid fire attack on Wahoo's leg was a pleasant surprise. Man the fucking strikes in this from both guys were really badass. Hennig's foreign object shot finish fit in very well with his character and the storyline based around how he won the belt. It also allowed Wahoo to bleed which is always a plus. This wasn't a great match but it was a good one.
