Jeez. 2. Dick Slater v Jim Evans Man did Slater manhandle this guy. Evans was basically a ragdoll the whole match, and was the victim of a bunch of rough takedowns and elbow drops. I actually was not aware that Slater worked AWA. 3. Two-Ring Battle Royal – 1/18/74. Good grief did Ray Stevens take a nutso bump over the top to the floor. I don't think he could have moved at a faster speed. Larry Nelson was impossibly awkward doing VO during this, talking about what "life in America" was like, with Vietnam, Nixon, yuppies taking over from the hippies, and Ray Stevens looking uncomfortably off camera the whole time. WTF? 4. Tommy Rich v Mike Richards Tommy seems to be working a little off the rails in this one, kinda tripping over his own feet but still working like Tommy Rich. 5. Adrian Adonis v Pete Sanchez Adonis beats this dude up pretty good, but it's pretty short. 6. Jerry Blackwell v Kevin Kelly I really loved this, but at 6 minutes it won't get nominated. Blackwell looked really awesome here, and was a spitting image of Pig Champion at his fattest. Full on awesome Worldwide match, would probably make a great EXTRA.
June 22, 201114 yr comment_5474746 Mitch Snow/Alan West v Brian Costello/Frankie DiFalco The finish of this sucked but I kind of liked it up to that point besides DiFalco botching an armwringer... Dick Slater v Jim Evans Slater really did kick Evans ass. Loved the look on his face after Evans pulled a small package out of his ass. Fun. Peterson/Southern promo. God what a hilarious looking duo 74 Battle Royal highlights Tommy Rich v Mike Richards I thought this was actually pretty good. Rich's offense looked good and Richards took everything well. The Thesz Press finish actually looked legit here which it almost NEVER does IMO. Adrian Adonis v Pete Sanchez Real short or at least it felt that way. Paul E Dangerously promo. Jerry Blackwell v Kevin Kelly Blackwell is not impressed with Kelly's flexing. Blackwell snaps after being manhandled and drills Kelly with some big shots knocking him to the floor. Kelly extends his hand and Blackwell accepts and knees him in the balls then gives him a big shoulder tackle sending him to the floor. Then Blackwell struts around the ring and slicks back his hair ala the Fonz. Kelly gets back in the ring and Blackwell offers his hand in the most sarcastic fashion possible. Blackwell does an awesome weeble wobble sell on a back elbow. Kelly ends up slamming Blackwell and then letting out this gasp of relief before following up with an elbow for a near fall. Then there is a pretty great punch exchange that ends with Jerry slumped in the ropes. He looks like he is nearly dead, but he reverses Kelly and decks him with a clothesline. Kinisiki gets on the apron and Blackwell flips him in and headbutts him in the face and the ref throws out the match. Post-match Blackwell ends up fighting off both men. I thought this was a pretty great showing from a very physically limited Blackwell against one of the most limited pro wrestlers who ever lived in Kevin Kelly. For that reason it deserves to be nominated.
