Posted June 13, 201114 yr comment_5473251 Nasty Boys v. Ricky Rice/Tom Johnson Holy shit the Nasty Boys theme is classic. I am the World's biggest Nasty Boys fan and I am immediately happy with their blind side attacks and stiff shots. Sags short punch to the face of Johnson was awesome. Oh my God Johnson is so shitty he literally does not know how to post-up on a body slam and then fucks up a god damned outside in sunset flip spot. Thankfully he tags out and Ricky Rice hits three great looking dropkicks ones of which sends Knobs flying to the floor. Rice goes for a press and Sags catches him and fucking KILLS HIM with a backbreaker. The Nasty Boys are really great cutting off the ring in this match and they really lay in the shots huge. Rice gets whipped into a diving clothesline from Knobs for the finish. This was a fun competitive squash. If Johnson was even half trained this could have been really good. Bad Company v. Tim Paterson/Greg Robertson The babyface jobber team has got to be on the plainest named teams of all time. Tanaka complains about hair pulling early, then throws a douchey chop, chucks Paterson to the floor and Paterson gets slammed on the concrete by Diamond. Tanaka follows this up by chopping the shit out of Paterson. Jesus Christ Diamond comes in and almost kills the poor guy. Paterson tags out after Tanaka takes a face first bump into the top turnbuckle and Robertson proceeds to blow his first real spot in the match. Slingshot into DDT finish. Enjoyably vicious. Verne Gagne promo talking about the Olympics. Hey, it is ESPN why not. Alan West v. Soldat Ustinov Oh MY GOD the fucking commentary. Donna is talking about intergalatic broadcasting and Throngard or however the fuck you spell his name is just as bad, possibly worse. Crowd is super into this one which keeps me mildly interested. I kinda dug the opening test of strength spot in fact. West sliding underneath the brickwall and hitting a dropkick was a pretty nice spot. Ustinov actually threw a clothesline in this that was totally unlike any clothesline I have ever seen as he sort of cocked back right before he threw it but then moved forward in super slow motion. He also took a Jesse Venturaesque bump off of a dropkick. Take that however you think it is meant to be taken. They do a race for the finish, time limit draw here but man alive was the crowd into this which kept the match interesting no matter what you think of these guys (and truth be told neither guy looked bad here). Tom Zenk promo. Baron Von Raschke promo. Baron has a pervstache for some reason here. Adrian Adonis v. Greg Gagne I like Gagne more than most anyone on Earth, but I question the logic in having Greg do a serious of slams to a fat guy ten seconds into the match. Seems like a spot that should be built to and when they repeat it a few seconds later I am pretty god damned annoyed even if Adonis selling was wonderfully absurd. Adonis is really a bump freak even here hurling himself around on arm wringers, taking wild bumps into Orton on the floor, et. I was deeply amused by Gagne going for a god damned Octopus style ab stretch on fat ass Adrian Adonis as it just looked ludicrous. Adonis on offense was fun enough and I enjoy him stalking around like a lead character from a John Waters movie. At one point Gagne gets a hope spot by punching him in the throat from his back which was either awesome or weird looking or both. Gagne gets caught in a sleeper but escapes with one of the better drop down smashes into the turnbuckles I've seen and Adonis takes another HUGE bump. Gagne ends up on the floor getting his ass kicked by Orton and Greg posts Adonis and the match gets thrown out. This is one of those things where if you are a fan of fat guys taking insane bumps you will probably love the match so I almost feel like I have to nominate it even if I struggle to see it as something that will make the set.
