He seems very upset about divestment of South Africa, then calls Hall a steroid addict with an inferiority complex (seriously). He calls the Omaha paper a "liberal rag" that has led them down the wrong path. EXTRA Greg Gagne/Jerry Blackwell v. Chris Curtis/Rick Renslow Holy shit Curtis is AWFUL here. He botches a couple of spots against Greg so badly it's unreal. He literally comes across like a poor man's Michael Cole. Blackwell's headbutts looked great. God damn it is appalling how much ring time Curtis got here. Jesus Christ Blackwell is working an actual FIP segment here. Fucking Blackwell is being worked over by Chris god damned Curtis and Renslow. Well the finish double splash deal was okay I guess. Blackwell/Gagne promo. Nord The Barbarian/Boris Zhukov v. Earthquake Ferris/Rick Renslow Disc is choppy here. This was okay I guess. Adnan promo Sherri Martel v. Princess Jasmine Hey Princess Jasmine was fun. She showed nice fire hit some cool flashy mat work and took a nice bump to the floor once Sherri had had enough. Sherri takes a slingshot into a ref which would have KILLED the ref in a men's match but here it is just a "lol a woman is on a man!" spot. Martel takes a chop on the floor and face plants over the table and onto Larry Nelson's lap almost knocking him over! Well that was awesome. Finish kind of sucked and this match isn't going through but Nelson freaking out because a women in in his lap was great. Rose/Martel promo
August 31, 201114 yr comment_5481393 All-Star Wrestling on ESPN 1986 Col. DeBeers v Pete Sanchez Not as stiff as the usual Col. squashes, but not bad. Jerry Blackwell/Greg Gagne v Chris Curtis/Rick Renslow Wow this actually gets a lot of time for some reason. Rick Renslow was awesome here as when he was announced the screen just said "Rick Renslow - Alaskan" and that made me laugh really really hard for some reason. Curtis was just hideous here. For everything he did right (nice elbowdrop, nice headlock punch), he would do SO many things as if he'd never been trained. Out of place for everything, couldn't take a lot of moves right, really just made Gagne look horrible. Seems to be against the purpose of jobbers. Blackwell is so much fun to watch even in a crummy match, as he just makes everything look great. Nord the Barbarian/Boris Zukhov v Earthquake Ferris/Rick Renslow Nord did not seem to enjoy working with Earthquake here, as Ferris looked really clumsy and sandbagged him on a couple things, so Nord responds by taking Ferris' face off with a massive big boot. Rick Renslow (Alaskan) actually gets a hot tag run against Zukhov but it was pretty obvious where this match was heading. For a guy I normally don't care about, Nord came off pretty great here. Sherri Martel v Princess Jasmin – AWA Woman’s title Match was pretty fun and Jasmin actually was in control for like 80% of it, pretty much outworking her on the mat, throwing her around on the floor, and then losing to the feet on the ropes. Verne awkwardly talks during the match about how there are whole cards in Japan that don't even have mens matches on them! Whole cards, with nothing but WOMEN wrestling on them! Good for them!
