Posted June 17, 201114 yr comment_5473579 Doug Somers v. Curt Gunter Really quick squash. Somers suplex being a finish is crazy. I mean it looks good but even in 86 that's not a finish that feels really legit Gagne/Larry Z face off. Funny as they argue over who is more deserving of a title shot. Gagne accusing Larry of hiding behind Bruno was bizarre. Nick Bockwinkel promo. Jimmy Snuka v. Don Fargo Okay Don Fargo complaining of a hair pull when Snuka breaks his full nelson with pure power is one of the great "heel complaining about shit that physically could not have happened" moments I can recall. Snuka selling Fargo as his equal in terms of power is really puzzling, but it does make for a better match. Well this was okay until Fargo locked on the longest chinlock in history anyway. Seriously this goes on for what feels like ten minutes. Then Fargo fucks up and stands up on the Superfly splash. Wow. Snuka promo. Not enough cocaine today I guess. Midnight Rockers v. Larry Zbyszko/Mr. Go Larry's stalling may have gone on a hair too long, but the opening exchange with him and Jannetty was pretty hot stuff. Jannetty really is a slick motherfucker and just has some cool looking shit in general. Michaels and Go segment was fun with Michaels holding onto an arm even as Go falls to the floor. Go teases superkicks coming off the ropes but Michaels avoids two and then hits a sunset flip for a near fall. Larry is in and mocks slaps Michaels which is the sort of shit that would have gotten him blackballed in 95 WWF. Interaction with Larry and Shawn is fun stuff but nothing off the charts. Marty goes FIP after a throat thrust from Go. Jannetty's bumpig and limp body selling is pretty good but I still kinda wish the heels would have had something more impactful on offense. Just as I type that Go and Larry hit a cool backbreaker/diving chop spot that was pretty neat. Michaels gets the hot tag and hits a couple of really great superkicks. Faces get cut off by being whipped into each other but Michaels pulls Go to the floor and tries to wipe him out with a dive that doesn't really connect. Finishing run has some cool near falls with a Marty jacknife on Larry, a cool brainbusteresque spot from Go on Jannetty, a Rockers double dropkick, et. Problem is the structure really kind of falls apart toward the end or at least it felt that way on the first watch and the fact that they were going to a draw was heavily telegraphed by the announcers for the last three or four minutes. There was enough cool shit in this to at least throw it on the dock but I'm not sure how well it is going to hold up to scrutiny.
