Col Debeers v. Dennis Stamp

Stamp was decent on offense actually but Debeers rolls through on an armbar and just starts kicking his ass, hitting him with stiff strikes, hurling him across the ring, et. Kinda surprising to see Stamp come back and rattle off some more offense. Debeers came back with a double knee from a prone position and punched Stamp in the face. Stamp reverses the momentum again and hits a nice suplex for a near fall which Debeers really sells the fuck out of. Cool moment with Stamp catching his leg on a kick, but Debeers hitting an enziguri and then finishing him off with the face first piledriver. This was actually really competitive. Debeers worked vulnerable very well and Stamp is so silly looking and low key that he really jumps off the page as a guy you can feel great sympathy for in the underdog role.

Curt Hennig v. Jay York

York's offense looked really tight here. Enjoyed his tight wristlock combo thingy and followed up with some big blows. Hennig came back in kind, but York cut him off with a sharp elbow. I can't explain it, but I marked pretty hard for Hennig's rolling fireman's carry escape. Hennig sells an illegal blow from York pretty well but ends up winning with a flash middle rope dropkick. If this was three minutes longer it would be a nomination for sure. Good work.

Midnight Rockers v. Boris Zhukov/Nord The Barbarian

Rockers worked hard and fast early and Zhukov was actually pretty good taking their shit early. Michaels gets caught on a crossbody attempt and eats a big back breaker but it was a teased FIP and not the real thing. The near falls Zhukov takes are pretty solid but almost feel like filler. Jannetty ends up going FIP here and ends up taking a VICIOUS big boot to his face. Anyone Jannetty was fine but the heels offense is really just bearhug and boredom. Michaels was explosive when he came in and I dug his flying fistdrop but really nothing at this point could make this a nomination. Buddy Rose interference costs the Rockers the match. I could see the finish as an EXTRA maybe.
