Posted June 21, 201114 yr comment_5474632 The opening of this is great with Peterson hitting some nice offense, Hennig flying around for it, et. Really liked the sly avoidance of the drop toehold by Peterson and Hennig's wild bump off the early dropkick. Hennig is really nasty and deliberate with his shots really throwing some mean heel as @#!*% blows. And Peterson knows how to take them and sell them to his credit. Curt's stalking around and mannerisms were really incredible in this. Peterson makes his comeback after Curt gets bumped off the top and hits a nice belly to belly and follows up with a really great spinning back elbow for near falls. Hennig ends up doing another great "hold the ropes to avoid a dropkick" spot and then Peterson accidentally clotheslines the ref. Hennig rips a chair out of the hands of a fan and slams Peterson on it, though Peterson doesn't really take the impact well. Wahoo hits the ring and lights up Hennig before checking on DJ as the match gets tossed out. There is about 7 minutes shown here and looks to start basically at the beginning. Eric didn't nominate it for whatever reason but I think this is definitely strong enough to pass through.
May 6, 201213 yr comment_5501938 AWA World Heavyweight Title: Curt Hennig © vs. DJ Petersen (8/29/87) Nice zebra print tights on Petersen here. This had some really solid rapid fire action to start as Petersen was movin and groovin with Curt hanging move for move and pinballing all over the ring. Curt would finally go on offense with a cheap shot in the corner and then slowed the pace down as he just pounded Petersen from pillar to post and Petersen was bumping hard for him as well. Curt would go up top though and DJ would crotch him which started his comeback and he really took it to Curt getting some good nearfalls on him until DJ accidentally hits Larry Lisowski with a clothesline. Curt would drop to the floor where he would grab a chair and he slammed Petersen on it awkwardly which would bring out Wahoo McDaniel who just chopped the shit out of Hennig causing Petersen to get DQed. This was a damn fun match and is a fairly easy nomination.
