Bullet Bob Armstrong vs. Bob Orton Jr. (11/24/94)

 

Bullet was supposed to face Abdullah the Butcher here but Abby didn't show so Orton was called in. I loved Bullet doing the Banzai Drop on Orton's cowboy hat to start the match. I really dug the mat exchanges early on with both men looking good especially Orton was bumping around very well for someone his age. Orton then went to work on Bullet and this was good stuff as he was methodical but used some cool spots such as his one hand backbreaker as he lifted up Bullet by his tights. Orton would lock in a sleeper that looked real good and the fans were into Bob making his comeback out of this but a short clothesline by Orton killed that chance. Orton went for a piledriver though and Bullet countered with a backdrop starting a flurry but a knee in the face would end that. Orton then went for a top rope Vader Bomb but met all knees which brought out Bruiser Bedlam so DWB ran out to counter that attack as that was going on Orton tried to use the racket and failed so Corny got hit then Bullet used the racket to win. This was a pretty damn fun match mainly thanks to Orton and I think this is a nomination.

I'll pass on this as a nomination. i thought the work was solid very 70's style that the SMW crowd can enjoy. It still fall short for me. Still the ending angle with the kiss the Bullet's feet should go on as an extra.
