Brad Rheingans v. Steve Regal

JIP at about 8 minutes. Good basic match despite the fact that Regal

is just terribly uninteresting working control segments. They

basically work with a theme of Regal as the rough house guy and

Rheingans as the babyface who overwhelms him with skill. I thought

Rheingans did a good job of selling for the middling (at best) offense

of Regal and I liked the quick finishing barrage of offense.

Jerry Blackwell v. Brad Rheingans

JIP. Second half of a draw. Good stuff but not enough here for a nomination.

Nick Bockwinkel v. Brad Rheingans

This has an interesting feel because it's a studio match. As an arena

match I don't know if I would nominate this, but I thought this worked

well in the "champ v. upstart" tv match setting. Bock is cocky early,

ends up paying for it, Rheingans makes a run, Bock cuts him off,

repeat. It's a solid formula that worked. There were not a lot of

big spots in this but the speed of Rheingans mat stuff got the crowd

going and the big run of offense that Rheingans ran through at the end

was exciting and looked good with Bock bumping huge. I also loved the

fucking knuckle lock monkey flip spot in this which looked smooth as

hell. A unique feel for an AWA match which could help this despite

the fact that it's far from a high end Bockwinkel match.

Ken Patera v. Brad Rheingans

This is VERY slow moving thanks to Patera who seems content to sit

around during a lot of this. Having said that I did like some of the

stuff Rheingans did, including some nice bridges and more cool monkey

flip shit. The last five minutes of this are actually pretty good,

but you have to question why Patera was working anyone in a twenty

minute draw at this point. Decent match over all, but yet another

where you wish Rheingans had a more game dance partner.

Brad Rheingans v. Wayne Bloom

Was this from 89 or 90? Interesting match as it's broken up in rounds and based on Greco-Roman rules supposedly. Not really good but unique enough to be worth watching.

In the Corner with Larry segment with Rheingans. I feel like nearly all of these should be extras and this is no exception. EXTRA

As a point of interest, this is Rheingans pro debut.

I have this listed as a 1990 bout.
