JIP and Greg makes the hot tag to Curt almost immediately. Heels are bumping wildly for Curt. Curt hits an elbow drop on Bock for a nearfall who breaks it up with an eye rake. Curt ends up getting overwhelmed and goes into an FIP that is really great. Stevens is awesome throwing cheap shots from the apron and Curt throws some really fun shots trying to establish a comeback. Curt with a fairly insane face first bump to the floor. Fun quirk here as Curt is being held at bay on the floor so Gagne comes in and works some cheapshots on the heels. Back in the ring and Curt is bloody and exhausted and goes into a desperation punch exchange with Bock slipping through his legs to get the hot tag. Stevens takes a nice bump off a face slam on the mat and Bock is stumbling around like a drunk for Gagne's offense. Gagne lock son the sleeper and Bock is flailing around a boots the ref in the face. Stevens and Hennig come in and all hell breaks loose with Stevens getting chucked over the top, Bock getting posted, et. This was pretty awesome stuff. Not sure how much was missing on the edit.

The early going of this is really great face shine stuff. Stevens and Bock are both great bumping and stooging around for the faces who show tons of fire. The way Bock sold was particularly impressive and the crowd goes fucking nuts for the axe smash and the Gagne sleeper. Also some really cool stuff with heel tactics used against the heels, almost taunting tag attempts where the heels are just dragged off at the last second and the transition to Greg in peril is well built to and well executed. Crowd goes nuts when Bock locks on a sleeper and they do a really good job with a cool comeback spot off of a Gagne sleeper that Bock reverses out of. Gagne takes a couple of nice bumps one over the top and the other to the post and the heels go to work on his arm. Greg throws a nasty chop that Nick sells perfectly before cutting off Greg and pushing him into the heel corner. At this point I realize this is a front end of a match we have in part elsewhere. This is great shit and moves from a Solid Nomination to an Easy one.

Nick Bockwinkel & Ray "The Crippler" Stevens vs. Greg Gagne & Curt Hennig (6/13/85)

 

The early parts of this was okay as the heels tried to corner Greg but he fought loose and tagged in Curt who worked on Ray's left arm. Bock comes in and action picks up as Gagne gets a sleeper hold on him but Stevens would break it up and they would trap Gagne in their corner where they worked over his neck leading to a Bock sleeper. Gagne would get tossed to the floor then when he came back in he took a hard bump shoulder first into the ringpost changing the focus from the neck to the left arm. Gagne is fun here fighting back trying to get the tag to Hennig even using two mule kicks to get away bringing Curt in. Curt runs wild when he comes in but he would also get caught in the heels corner where they bashed his head against the steel part of the turnbuckle bringing out the juice with Curt being awesome at selling this shaking his body around while the heels just take it to him. The crowd goes nuts when Greg finally gets the hot tag and he fires up on both heels bashing Bock's head into the steel like they did Hennig. Greg locks the sleeper back on when we get a ref bump leading to a 4-way brawl as the crowd goes nuts with Greg still bashing Bock around and Hennig sending Stevens to the floor as the referee calls for the bell calling this a no contest since both teams lost control. Did the finish suck yeah but this was a pretty damn solid match here and I think this is fairly easy nomination.
