Posted September 16, 201114 yr comment_5482941 Steel Cage Match for the WWF World Heavyweight Title: Hulk Hogan © vs. Big Bossman (4/25/89) Slick brings out Zeus before the match to intimidate Hogan and this is during the heavy push for No Holds Barred as it was about to hit theaters. Hogan meets Zeus on the steps at the cage and then gets attacked by the big man with mongolian chops before walking off. This was effective getting the Zeus character over. Bossman drags Hogan in the cage and starts choking him with his shirt before going on offense but Hogan fights back eventually hitting the big boot but as he climbs the cage he gets dragged down by Bossman. Bossman would hit Hogan with a splash then goes to walk out the door but Hogan pulls his foot back in and starts back fighting before a bad looking spinebuster which was Hogan jumping into Bossman's arms and Bossman just dropping. Bossman then scales the cage and almost gets to the floor but Hogan grabs through the cage and pulls him back up before giving him the big superplex off the top which drove this crowd nuts since they hadn't seen their other cage matches. Both men are laid out which brings in Earl Hebner who starts a double count but Hogan would raise up at 8 and crawls to the door but Bossman drags him back in. Bossman catches Hogan with a forearm then gets a chain from Slick which he uses to choke Hogan then wraps it around his fist but misses a shot letting Hogan get some offense before both men hit the cage head first. Hogan recovers quicker and he grabs the chain then wraps it around his fist and KO's Bossman then bashes his head into the cage numerous times allowing Hogan to climb out. Slick would get in the cage though grabbing Hogan as Bossman tries to climb out but Hogan breaks free then crotches Bossman and handcuffs Bossman who is juicing. Hogan climbs out as Slick tries to release Bossman and the brawl continues afterwards as Hogan bashes Bossman's head into the cage then grabs Slick who gives him five then gets thrown into the cage as the crowd loses their shit. This was a condensed version of their other cage matches but a lot fun and should be a nomination.
June 24Jun 24 comment_6031738 Hulk Hogan vs. Big Boss Man (Cage Match) (SNME 5/27/89) Fun interview with Slick & Boss Man. Slick has a surprise for Hulk Hogan & it’s Zeus! This may be his WWF TV debut. Zeus stands at the cage door waiting for Hogan. Hogan comes face to face with him. Zeus beats Hogan down with several clubs to the back of the head & neck then leaves. Hogan is able to make his way into the cage for the match, but Boss Man smells blood. Boss Man tears Hogan’s shirt off & chokes him with it. Hogan gets in a little offense, but Boss Man stays on top. Spine buster on Hogan. Boss Man decides to climb over the cage. Hogan just barely stops him in a great false finish. The famous superplex from the top of the cage happens. I really liked that it took out both guys for several minutes. Hebner having to come in to make a count is great too. Both men get back up. Back & forth. They end up with another double down. This time both guys smash each other into the cage head first. Slick tosses a chain over the cage to Boss Man. Boss Man chokes Hogan with it. Hogan Hulks Up. He bloodies Boss Man with the chain. Boss Man takes some awesome bumps into the cage. Leg Drop. Hogan goes to climb. Slick smashes Hebner into the cage door & runs after Hogan. Hogan kicks Slick off & stops Boss Man from climbing by crotching him on the ropes. Hogan handcuffs Boss Man to the ropes & starts a climb. Slick desperately tries to find the key as Boss Man is hanging from the ropes by the cage door trying to touch his feet to the ground. Hogan is able to land on the ground & win to retain. Great drama & awesome finish. Boss Man takes another smashing into the cage & Slick takes a tremendous bump into the cage. Hogan celebrates with Slick’s hat afterwards. This is a blast. It’s possible this isn’t as good as their other cage matches, but is worth comparing. STRONG NOMINATION
