Mascara Año 2000 & Cien Caras vs. Rayo de Jalisco Jr. & Tony Benetto 7. Sangre Chicana vs. Perro Aguayo (Hair match) 2/28/86 Really tremendous match, feels right up there with the best stuff of the decade. Chicana is going to come out of this set with a huge reputation boost. Everything you want from a crazy lucha apuestas brawl. Blood, fans brawling with wrestlers, dudes ripping out rows of chairs and throwing them at each other, great punches, insane topes. Some pretty dramatic near falls at the ends, and a finish which felt earned. Really exciting discovery. 8. Sangre Chicana vs. El Faraon Arena Coliseo de Guadalajara 1982: 9. Los Hermanos Calavera vs. Aguila India & Cochisse - Finish (it airs as the show starts the intro) 10. Rayo de Jalisco jr. & El Faraon vs. Asesino Negro & Indio Jeronimo 11. January 27, 201312 yr comment_5531125 Sangre Chicana vs. Perro Aguayo (Hair match), 2/28/86 This felt a little clippy at points in the second fall, but I don't think we were really robbed of a whole lot. This was totally awesome. I'm guessing Chicana will get the Fujiwara bump from this set, and he deserves it. Really gives us a better sense of what Perro was capable of in his prime, too. This will be near the top of my ballot. Andre The Giant & Cien Caras vs. Herodes, Sangre Chicana & Alfonso Dantes This was super-fun. Just a great display of Andre's shtick, and how much fun he was in that era. If this were actually competitive, I'd nominate it, but I thought it still needed to be mentioned.
August 15, 201312 yr Author comment_5556424 Did anyone watch the rest of this disc? Chicana v. Faraon sounds pretty great on paper. But it doesn't look like any of us watched it.
August 15, 201312 yr comment_5556434 Yeah, we need to revisit some of this stuff. Kris, where did you watch and comment on this stuff? 1. El Faraon, Sangre Chicana & Cien Caras vs. Tony Salazar, Tinieblas & Tony Benetto - It’s like gang warfare starting off with the rudos triple teaming Tin on the floor. They don’t want them in the ring until they slam Tin’s leg against the apron setting up a nasty knee lift to the leg by Caras. Technicos are easy pickings at this point. The triple team is Shield like. 2nd fall, more great rudo numbers game until Tin sneaks in and sends the rudos scurrying. Fuck… incomplete. El Faraon vs. Chicana (Clip) - Fuck this looked awesome and more wild than the match I nominated. No finish and clipped to hell Mascara Año 2000 & Cien Caras vs. Rayo de Jalisco Jr. & Tony Benetto - Clip I am uploading these to revisit... Rayo de Jalisco Jr, Atlantis & Tony Salazar vs. Sangre Chicana, Cien Caras & Faraon 16:36 Sangre Chicana vs. Faraon vs. Perro Aguayo 10:30 Sangre Chicana vs. El Faraon 21:02 Rayo de Jalisco jr. & El Faraon vs. Asesino Negro & Indio Jeronimo 24:18 Andre The Giant & Cien Caras vs. Herodes, Sangre Chicana & Alfonso Dantes 25:13 Sangre Chicana, Cuahutemoc Torres & Dardo Aguilar vs. Ruby Rubalcaba, Yuma & Barba Negra (Last Match)
August 15, 201312 yr comment_5556473 On my YouTube page, the above matches should be public for all to view and comment on.
August 15, 201312 yr Author comment_5556479 Sangre Chicana vs. Faraon vs. Perro Aguayo 10:30 This is really clipped up, the action we see is good but it is hard to figure out what is going on
August 15, 201312 yr comment_5556480 I only watched the singles match. Bummed it wasn't a sprint of a brawl.
August 15, 201312 yr comment_5556556 The early matches are clipped and they build up the Chicana/Faraon feud. El Faraon & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs. Asesino Negro & Indio Jeronimo (1981) Faraon is wearing a jumpsuit out of the Bill Dundee collection to the ring. Some fun matwork early between Rayo & Asesino but it picks up when Faraon comes in as he outsmarts the rudos on multiple occasions. Young Rayo could move here and showed some nice agility using the schtick that he would still use today but looked better then. Tecnicos took the 1st fall but the rudos started the 2nd fall strong taking the punishment to Rayo then to Faraon before taking the fall fairly quickly. Rudos beatdown continued in the 3rd fall and they were just beating the piss out of Faraon before trying to submit Rayo which brought in a recharged Faraon who evened the odds. Faraon would lock on a crucifix on Indio and Asesino would get counted out to give the tecs the win. Okay for what it was. Then we get a promo from Andre & Cien where Andre gives background on himself saying that he is 34 years old so this was taped earlier in the year. Handicap Match: Andre the Giant & Cien Caras vs. Alfonso Dantes/Herodes/Sangre Chicana (1981) Sangre Chicana thinking he was hot shit before the match staring down Andre was great. This is Andre before his knee injury so he is way more mobile than he would become not too long after this match. The fans go nuts for everything Andre does as they have never seen anything like it before. These guys are great at taking Andre's offense and it's a blast watching this but this is so one-sided that I don't know if I can nominate this. I think this would be better served as an extra where this can be seen because it needs to be seen. Next we get a bunch of mixed entertainment from Arena Coliseo de Monterrey which was interesting to say the least. Olimpus vs. Indio Misteca (1985) This is a handheld so we miss some stuff and there is a little clipping. Indio is pretty horrible hitting the ropes and that's the main takeaway of this. Dardo Aguilar/Sangre Chicana/Cuahutemoc Torres vs. Barba Negra/Yuma/Rubi Rubalcaba (1985) The cameraman spent way too much time focusing on Chicana on the apron just standing there while action was going on in the ring which was stupid.
August 16, 201312 yr comment_5556612 A one sided Andre 20 minute squash in 1982 sounds fun as hell. I need to watch this match.
August 16, 201312 yr comment_5556628 Phil, watch the Andre match!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyjtMoOBU00 For Phil, Faraon v Chicana... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WgmEaULZxw
August 16, 201312 yr comment_5556644 I just nominated the Andre match. It is clear Kris likes the match so I don't know why he wouldn't move it forward. The comedy was better than a match like Freddy vs. Landel which he helped move forward. It is no more one sided than the Fabs vs. Eaton/Myers match he helped push on the Memphis set. The unique atmosphere and the quality of Andre's shtick here makes it a no brainer for me. Phil, watch the match!!!!
