Ah ok, I see where you are coming from. Look at it this way... I just gave my thoughts on JBL-Eddie. I know the events leading up to the match but didn't have to sit through SD! and watch that godawful show to understand that Eddie hates JBL. I could still get into the match. I enjoy good angles and interviews but I don't think they are necessary to enjoy a good match.

Bruiser Chong - Cool guy and brings a Cubs viewpoint that I rarely encounter living in the Northeast. Knowledgeable and flaunts it without being overbearing.

The Man in Blak - I've always loved the Jake Roberts sig. which is what first made me remember your name. Has become a solid contributor in every facet and reminds me of Al when it comes to sports posts.

Loss - Seems like I've seen you posting forever and you've always been enjoyable to read. Very solid wrestling poster and along with Rudo, is a reason why I still have some interest in wrestling despite no longer watching the WWE.

MARTYEWR - A cool guy who I remember first seeing over at the EWR boards when it first launched. Informative when he posts.

sek69 - Good poster despite my relative lack of interest in politics.

The Metal Maniac - A great music poster and just fun to read. Helps enlighten others with points that are effective.

goodhelmet - Posts with spirit and is interesting to read.

TheShawshankRudotion - One of my favorite wrestling posters at the moment. Fabulous on the creative side and has helped me maintain my love of wrestling.

treble - Maple Leafs fan and a hockey die hard. Can't go wrong with that.

Crucifixio Jones - I only remember you from your TSM stay(prior to the Marney runoff) but entertaining as hell. Great advocate of porn and a good spotlighter in that regard. Is capable of bringing content elsewhere when he decides to as well.

All right, I'll actually give my thoughts:

Bruiser Chong - You were Daredevil at the old Smarks/TSM, right? Never really interacted much with him, and sometimes I felt he took message boarding a bit too seriously, but ever since I've seen him post outside there or in chats, he seems like a cool guy. Sorry to leave you as the most tortured baseball fan on the board, dude.

The Man in Blak - SNKT.....sorry. I still vow that I will beat him in the baseball league this year. One of the guys who has kept this refreshing alternate to other places alive.

Loss - You should really write about wrestling on one of the big sites....seriously. Not 411 or Inside Pulse or anything, I'm talking Meltzer's site. His TSM writings were always great reads. And I know Trish Stratus appreciates the strong gay male fan support she has from you.

goodhelmet - Pretty much introduced me to Puro. Also great to talk to about wrestling (I should go ahead with that "Overrated Classics" idea I had before that you liked so much).

treble - The quiet TSM mod.....actually, the quiet guy period. Makes me think he's plotting something against all of us for all of those *pees on Tim* jokes.

Crucifixio Jones - The most fanatical (and informative) person regarding porn that I have ever seen. Used to think he was a little too abrasive for me, but, again, once I got to SNKT and was in the chats, I saw a brand new side of him.

There, happy folks?

Man, I am still waiting for you to post your thoughts on those matches I sent you as well. I don't want you on the Fat Canadians I hate list as well :(

You don't even have to be Canadian but I'll still throw out the hate.

I see your point. I think, for the most part, good angles and good interviews mean eventually a good match. But there are exceptions, like the one you gave, as well as Rock-Hogan (with the godawful ambulance angle leading up to it).
comment_988710

It all depends on who is involved. The Angle-Benoit feud of 2002-03 was simply a case of "I don't like you and think I'm better than you", and that's all you really need because they can bring it in the ring and tell a good story in there without any real long promos or anything.

On the other hand, Rock and Austin weren't really the greatest wrestlers out there, but their respective charismas and Rock's great promo skills drummed up great interest for their matches, and the fans were always amped up to see these guys go in the ring (even if it's more brawling than actual technical skill in their matches).

Bruiser Chong - he's a nice guy. It's fun to talk to him on AIM during a Cubs game, it's a hopeless optimist/jaded realist sort of dynamic. He's good at ripping guys on TSM.

The Man in Blak - He's a Cardinals fan but I'll let it slip. He's always seemed like a good guy, and he offered to help me out when I was getting re-acquainted with Cool Edit.

Loss - After the big Raw thread mess back in August, I realized I was in the wrong there and have tried my best to mend any fences there. He knows a lot about WCW, more than I could ever hope to. As far as liberals go, he's a better one.

MARTYEWR - He gets lost in the shuffle at TSM for me. Sorry

sek69 - I want to talk politics with you. Hit me up on AIM some time.

The Metal Maniac - MartyEWR

goodhelmet - I hadn't seen him at TSM in forever but when he was there he was good

TheShawshankRudotion - Rudo is great. I enjoyed collaborating on stuff with him even though it might not hold up as well as I thought it would. Still, fun times, and I wish there had been some sort of Rudo-Czech Raw review, but that kept falling through.

treble - Occasionally I would talk baseball and hockey with him. I have fallen out of touch with him. He doesn't talk in chat rooms.

Crucifixio Jones - I guess I never really got CJ. Never was a fan to be honest.

This makes me smile. I actually think I overreacted a little to that, and yeah, I think we're cool now.

As a former TSM poster (Ulysess Evertt McGill) and longtime TSM/WDI/SNKT lurker I have to say I like this place. There are a lot of good posters here but it seems friendlier than SNKT, plus the colors are way better. Not as many in-jokes/toilet humor as WDI, and it's more active. And more intelligent posters and nicer mods without god complexes than TSM. Oh and my favorite poster is me right now. But this could change. Everybody who isn't me is tied for my second favorite poster.

Bruiser Chong: Dude sucks, man. Spends most of his summer evenings going onto AIM and making other people listen to what the Cubs did wrong that day and why they'll do badly the following day. Also uses words like certainly, definitely, incredible, and quite in his posts entirely too much. At least he doesn't have that Jake "The Snake" Roberts anti-drug picture in his sig anymore.

The Man in Blak: My first memories of the guy are from the summer of '02. I was (relitively) new to the WDI and WDI-related chat scenes at that time, so aside from the main players, everyone else was interchangable. Because of this, I intially got him mixed up with two or three other WDIers who used to frequent the chats. Eventually his knowledge and ability to make conversation on virtually any topic made him easier to pick out of the crowd. One of the main reasons I got so psyched about both incarnations of SNKT and was always the mellow voice of reason when all the dumb 'net DRAWMUH got out of hand. Man knows his baseball, too.

Loss: The first person I talked to that I didn't know in "real life." Someone at the old Smarks Board started a thread to post your AIM handle in. Just getting AIM around that time, I figured I'd throw it out there, since the stupidity level wasn't anywhere close to where it'd eventually get. Still, I was surprised when someone actually IMed me one day. That person was Loss and things clicked almost instantly. It was great to be able to chew the fat with someone who actually had a vast knowledge in wrestling. His impressive sounding wrestling library made me assume that perhaps he'd eventually send some of it my way. There was even plans to make a massive comp that he'd give to me if I'd review it. It never panned out, and maybe it's for the best, since people are so critical of wrestling reviews these days. I don't get to talk with him nearly as much as I used to, but he's still one of the few people I'll hit up on AIM when I'm around.

MARTYEWR: I just know he's been around as long as a lot of us. He's always contributed, but never really stood out from the pack. Nevertheless, he could usually be counted on to bring something to the table in the wrestling folder.

sek69: Once upon a time, Sek was just this guy who posted at WDI, was online at oddball hours, read a lot of religious texts, and had an ambigious relationship with LJSexay. I remember his flamewar with Sass at WDI over something HHH-related that resulted in Josh laying down the law and winning the flamewar himself in a single post. So yeah, I wasn't a big Sek fan in those days, but when he resurfaced, I was able to appreciate his opinions more. He was always a guy who laid out his opinions regardless if they were popular or not. I'm not into politics, but his views are ones that I'm able to agree with more times than not.

The Metal Maniac: Another old-timer from the original WDI. Never really stood out, although I do remember his story of like winding up in the snow at the end of his 21st birthday and redecorating his house with various shades of his vomit.

goodhelmet: I thought for the longest time he was Mexican. What's that have to do with anything? Nothing really, I just thought now would be the time to come clean. When he posted a picture at SNKT I remember being outraged that I let a vanilla motherfucker proofread my columns at TSM. Anyway, we usually got along through AIM and he seemed to have one of the more realistic outlooks on TSM than any of the other mods at the time. He's not afraid to ruffle a few feathers and that includes overreacting at times, but he's a cool cat whose taste in wrestling has really flourished over time.

TheShawshankRudotion: One of the few TSM originals that I think makes a good addition to a board like this. Not many of TSM posters would be able to make the transition smoothly, but Rudo's done it. Not afraid to disagree with anyone about wrestling and his dedication to that MMA or whatever it is, is amazing.

treble: The butt of too many in-jokes, but he's a good sport and actually pretty funny when you're not paying attention. He's usually overlooked because he's so damn low-key, but he's got a sharp sense of humor that most don't pick up on.

Crucifixio Jones: Oh, where to begin? He was the first poster to ever throw an insult my way back in the early Smarks days. I remember thinking what an ass that Highspot was and then having Loss IM me about how obvious it was that he was really Crucifixio Jones. I honestly didn't pay a whole lot of attention to him at the Smarks, but when we moved over to WDI, the spotlight was more on him because of what he brough to the porn folder, not to mention his daily spats with Banky.

I recall being shocked to see him in one of the WDI chats, since I assumed he hated everybody on the Internet. Moreover, I actually remember him IMing me for the first time and bitching at me for using a Marvel Comics .gif, which he had been doing at the time. I was still under the impression he hated everyone, but then noticed him striking up conversations on AIM more frequently and before I knew it, he was probably the person I talked to the most. I'll stroke his ego and admit he played a hand in my early maturity over the two years I was around. We suddenly became linked at TSM as troublemakers and you could rest assured that if one of us were brought up, the other one was, too.

He's often been the life of the chats, even though they're so rare these days. Playing up the geek card, I can honestly say some of those nights where everyone in the chat was on, were the most I've laughed in years. Having "friends" from the 'net is odd, but when the usual chat group was on, you couldn't ask for many more memorable times sitting in front of a monitor.

That's not to say we've never had our differences. In the same sense that CJ and I are seemingly able to shoot the breeze about anything, he's also been the cause of frustration here and there over the years. His 2001 Steve Austin-like paranoia about SNKT last winter was the straw that broke the camel's back when I decided to take a break from the 'net. I also felt he was at fault for the demise of the first version of SNKT. Still, the good outweighs the bad, and it's been great to have someone to talk to who can crack you up, help pass time, challenge you mentally, and hook you up with hot new shit.

I'm a little late to the party I see...

Bruiser Chong: He's a good guy. He offered to help me with my college Media class, but fortuantely I did not need any help. He also showed me the ropes to selling on ebay to make money. Truth be told, I gave up on that idea and got a real job.

The Man in Blak: Sent me the link to this board, which will probably occupy most of the very limited amount of free time that I have. Thanks.

Loss: He's a good guy because he is able to separate business from fun. For instance, when he would take those absurd mod positions are TSM and still be able to kick back and relax on other boards. Definitely one of the more level-headed people around here.

MARTYEWR: Damn, you guys have all been nice to me, there is no fun in doing this. I will remember Marty for fighting the good fight way back when, and helping to bring down that cunt.

sek69: I don't know bro. You're there. Nothing really jumps out at me right now, but that might be because I haven't been around any of you online in god only knows how long.

The Metal Maniac: Read above.

goodhelmet: Back when I actually wanted to write columns for free about wrestling, he helped get me the spot on TSM. From there, he even proofed a lot of my stuff and was always around if I had a question. Overall, definitely a cool guy. Probably wouldn't have minded having him as a history teacher back in high school.

TheShawshankRudotion: We've had our disagreements in the past, none of which I can actually recall. Either way, he's always been an entertaining guy that made spending time on these boards worthwhile, even if only because I generally find him to be an ass.

treble: He's also there.

Crucifixio Jones: We also have had our disagreements (See: Hero), however I don't find CJ to be an asshole. I guess I just have a soft spot for anyone that loves Nip/Tuck and The Shield as much as I do. I think he is one of the few people, who if they stray from the norm on a topic, says what they think not just to come across as being abbrasive and different, but mostly because that is what he truly believes.

Y'know, "rob" just isn't the same without "Retro" in front of it.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Old habits die hard, see sig.

comment_1069577

Hey Flyboy, didn't you used to have a number or something after your name?

"212EAW". I only had it there at TSM because I thought just "Flyboy" would be taken by itself.

rob:

Old habits die hard, see sig.

... :(

I did what now?
The whole Trish saga, I was just trying to make it sound cool and meaningful.
