This topic was brought up in a recent thread and I thought to myself "Will, you are f a f**kin nerd". Lets see,

-Watches too much wrestling (check)

-Spends too much time on the computer (check)

-Spends too much time on the computer talking about wrestling (check)

-Collects toys... er... action figures (check)

-Plays video games obsessively (check) (although, I must admit video games are so mainstream in our culture now, you don't have to be a nerd to enjoy them)

So, what are your nerd tendencies. I may be a mid-level nerd since I don't obsessively collect comic books and devote a large portion of my time to Star Trek but I know it is in me. So, list your nerd tendencies... online gaming factions, D&D or Magic, comics, Star Trek, wrestling.... Nerds Unite!

Some of my OCD traits:

Keeping back issues of every magazine I get (mostly Video Game and Baseball Card related) in plastic sleeves in acid free boxes.

Trying to preserve the smell of my favorite magazines.

Never being satisfied with anything unless I have as complete a collection as possible.

And I play Professional Wiffleball.

I am Geek.

I'm like Tim except I collect comic books along with playing in pick-up b-ball games at the local youth center on Sundays.

But, but, but I don't go out in public in a wrestling shirt nor do I dress up like my favorite wrestler at house shows.

I lost most of my nerdish tendencies. No more interest in wrestling besides the six DVDs I already own, and possibly picking up a few of the old school ones for nostaglia. I'm very into movies and box office statistics, DVDs too. And I wear a tie 5 days a week for work, so I don't know. ;)

I don't know if I'm a nerd.

I'm online way way too much... but, everyone else watches TV all the time, where I never do... so, that probably offsets.

I play tennis. Which some consider nerdy, but I don't see how it is.

USPPBA was renamed in 2002 to Fast Plastic. I am a founding member of both leagues. Even had a documentary done on our team as well as front page articles in the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun.

I am not so much a nerd in the "I love being in the basement of the science building" but more of just having weird hobbies. In college, my room mates would always make fun of wrestling tapes and wiffleball (wiffle changed when they wou play with me and learned that is it as close to baseball as a baseball lover can get without getting to th ebig leagues).

I think what brings me into nerd mode is my need to go all the way when I find something interesting. When I found the great HBO shows on DVD, I couldn't wait for future DVD releases so I paid people to tape new episodes of shows since I don't have HBO.

Another example is that I will be picking up the 24: Season 4 DVD from Amazon UK in August since it won't be released until December in the US. How will I play it? With my region free DVD player of course, which I bought for the sole purpose of British Comedies not available in the US. And I will be picking up the 24: Season 4 release in December as well :)

So that shoul also explain trying to track down quality wrestling footage, especially now with everything turning into DVD.

Nerd? I don't know.

I collect toys but mostly Marvel Legends and they are all posed on top of my stereo, I don't play with them.

I don't play video games too much, I talk about and watch more about MMA than I do wrestling these days, I don't get comics, I'm in a band, I know cool people in different walks of life(I'm hoping Aaron of Nine Inch Nails gets back to me before the July 13th gig), I have a girlfriend, I can kick people's asses and help coach people to on the weekends... so in many ways I'm not.

On the other hand I'm very much a nostalgic guy who can be obsessive about completing a series of cancelled show, getting the best and newest MMA instructionals, downloading all the versions of a song I like that I can find, watch cartoons, I enjoy watching forensic crime shows... so in other ways I am.

I think I have a balance between nerdom and normality.

Most of my nerdy hobbies have faded.

- Collected baseball and basketball cards; haven't for a long time and ponder why I spent so much on the hobby when I did.

- Collected many action figure lines; no longer do and am in fact, selling off many of them on eBay.

- Collected wrestling figures; don't really anymore. I still have most of my Hasbro and LJN figures, but my Jakks have long since been listed on eBay. The new Jakks Classic Superstars are the shit, though, and I'm waiting to find many of them out of the package in one shot.

- Collected comics; aside from a few graphic novels, this is no more, too. I've got a bitching collection, but am probably going to be selling off most of it within the next year.

My main thing is building a library of DVDs. I know this won't fade away, so I don't have hang-ups about investing money into it. I still buy the occassional wrestling figure or graphic novel, but for the most part, my nerdy hobbies have come and gone. I've never been into video games. The only reason I own a PS2 is because of MVP Baseball.

Of course, there's still messageboarding, which is probably nerdier than anything else.

Tim, Cam, that is my point...

Many of us aren't your typical, Poppick, glasses-wearing, pocket protectors, nerds but have nerdy habits. Hell, I was a bartender for 6 years and have had as much sesh as anyone. My friends couldn't really be classified as nerds either and most are pretty successful guys. This isn't so much a topic where we admit we are dorks but more or less list what quirks we have (like collecting and discussing wrestling) that would label us as nerds.
