Adrian Adonis v. Ricky Rice

This is a taping in Minot which in and of itself I find funny. Rice was still pretty much a jobber at this point as this was before the promotion had gotten totally desperate and started pushing less well known guys. Relatively brief squash though Adonis stuff looked good offensively and was really over as a heel.

Highlights of an angle with Adonis and Orton beating the piss out of Gagne and Wahoo making the save. Possible EXTRA

Finish of Midnight Rockers v. Original Midnight Express shown

Greg Gagne v. Gerald Olsen

Nothing of note really.

Baron Von Raschke promo

Bob Orton v. Tom Johnson

There are a couple of points where Orton is visibly calling spots, but lord is he vicious here. His backbreaker and piledriver look like real killers.

Greg Gagne promo talking about the last event ever held in the Minneapolis Auditorium that is coming up. Kind of cool to have it on tape even though it doesn't mean anything to anyone who wasn't an AWA fan.

Wahoo McDaniel/Tom Zenk v. Nasty Boys

Saggs flexing pre-lock up with Zenk is too awesome for words. Zenk literally fucks up the first exchange, blowing a leg drop but it was more funny than embarrassing. Man Knobbs took a really fun theatric bump of of a Wahoo chop on the apron. Faces do a lot of "cheating behind the refs back" spots which are really over with the crowd here. Zenk has a really brief period of peril and Knobbs finally comes in to take his licks. Really the key thing this match illustrates is that both Nasty's were really reckless bumpers for guys their size even from the get go. Match sort of falls apart in the second act and I have no fucking clue why Wahoo was the FIP at any point, but this was perversely entertaining if nothing else.

Nasty Boys v. Tom Johnson/Ricky Rice

JIP. Johnson fucks up a slingshot sunset flip spot which is just..man. Rice comes in and hits his dropkick which is exactly what you want from him and then gets crushed by a Saggs backbreaker as a cut off spot. Short but kinda fun.

Curt Hennig promo. Cocky heel champ Hennig promos are all good. Literally not seen a single one that was anything less than strong.

Curt Hennig v. Darrell Olsen

Olsen using heel tactics on the heel Hennig really pissed me off. I was also annoyed that Olsen had his shoulder up on the finish. What a shitty jobber.

Allan West v. Solidat Ustinov

Oh man I am laughing my ass off at the Gorbachev Sucks sign. West looks like a poor man's Magnum TA..kinda. This is all milking the crowd in the opening minutes and setting up test of strength spots and stuff but the crowd is crazy into it which makes it all pretty entertaining. Ustinov is made to the look the fool and West the superior grappler and it works well. Adnan interferes to set up West in peril. It is basic stuff but pretty well executed. This match has a ten minute time limit and I actually thought they milked the inevitable draw really well as you had West get in a couple of flash near fall attempts, then a Ustinov near fall, then a really good looking double clothesline spot and West hitting a belly to belly (seriously a fucking Magnum clone) for a nearfall right at the bell. The crowd helps this a lot and I could see this one being scoffed at by everyone else but I enjoyed it enough to at least think about it for a set.
