This was actually a lot of fun. I'm assuming this was from the height of the Heenan angle with Gagne and the crowd was really hot for both him and Super D. AWA tag matches from this period have a tendency to go really long to the point where it feels too long even when it is a good match. This was not a super short match by any means, but it never felt long because of the pace they worked. They established Super D as the badass no one wanted a part of early, we got Heenan's wild bumps on the apron and cheapshots. Greg goes FIP and I don't give a fuck what people say he is a really good tag wrestler. The sunset flip and fall down on the bodyslam near falls were really well executed but simple spots that a lot of tag specialist don't do that well. I loved Heenan coming in and picking at the bones of Gagne and when Heenan tags in to try and pick up the scraps only to get wrecked by Super D it is an awesome moment. This is followed up by a really cool sequence where Bock has to keep saving Bobby from getting pined and gets his ass beat more severely each time. Meanwhile the faces take over on Bobby's arm, before bumping Heenan wildly into Bock who is tied up in the ropes. I was not a fan of the way Bock was just casually tagged in but the set up for the Super D turn at FIP was pretty good and the old khawk favorite with the face on the floor and heels keeping him at bay working him over to build heat worked really well here. Finish is actually really great as all hell breaks loose and Bobby decks Super D in the back of the head with his cast on a slam attempt leading to the heels winning. Post-match is great as Heenan comes in with the Weasel Suit to put on Greg. They have it half way on and Super D leaps off the top to break it up and then crushes the heels with headbutts from his loaded mask before they put Heenan in the suit. I can't even remembered if I've seen this, but this is something that should be given a real look.

Nick Bockwinkel & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. Greg Gagne & Super Destroyer Mark II (Sgt. Slaughter) (10/3/80)

I did love referee Buck Zumhofe here. Super D dominated the early part of this taking it to both heels who took the punishment like men especially Heenan who was bumping all over the place. Greg would work FIP here after taking a big bump missing a dropkick leading to Heenan coming in to get his shots in on Greg which was fun. Bock was solid on offense as usual and Greg's hope spots were fun with SD being really good as the partner on the apron trying to get at Heenan. Super D got the hot tag and he ran wild throwing Heenan into the turnbuckle hard as fuck and this was all Heenan just eating a shitload of punishment with Bock trying to save him. Bock would get his too as the faces took turns pounding on him before Super D got his turn working FIP which was solid. This leads to a fun stretch run that featured Heenan using his cast to KO Super D in the back of the head to win. The post-match was fun too as we got some weasel suit action. I dug this match a lot and I think this is an easy nomination.
