Mike George George is crazy stiff in this throwing an insane reverse atomic drop and a lariat that nearly kills Ray. Other than that this was pretty bad. Went on forever and at one point they are just oddly laying in the ropes doing nothing. Marshall claims this is from Kansas City. I wonder if this was from a sparsely attended Central States show? Greg Gagne promo Bill Apter sit down with DDP. DDP complains about their PWI ranking. Amusing. Verne Gagne v. Billy Robinson Mat Classic from 74 Eric Bischoff sit down interview with Brad Rheingans and Ken Patera talking about their tag team unit. Bizarre. Rheingans is wearing something that looks almost Shakespearean. Col. Debeers v. Tommy Jammer Ten minute challenge match. I am a fan of this gimmick and like Debeers, but this wasn't very good. Part of the problem is that Jammer just isn't very good. You are supposed to want the face to eek out a win but here I just wanted the Colonel to kick the shit out of him. The last three minutes or so were pretty good but up to that point I was just waiting for Debeers to unload on him. Stupid finish. Post-match Debeers attacks Jammer and Dukes shows up dropkicking Debeers wildly to the floor and taking the 2500 purse. Perhaps this should be an EXTRA Backstage promo with Dukes giving Tommy Jammer his money from the ten minute challenge. Larry Nelson sets up the paint the man white gimmick match. Fucking ridiculous. EXTRA Brad Rheingans/Ken Patera v. Badd Company Boy this was actually a great match. Yes Patera is pretty comical selling as a babyface working underneath, but aside from that this was astoundingly good. One thing I really enjoyed here is that they worked this traditional AWA style with each face getting an FIP and a shine. It allows for more teaser spots and breaks the monotony a bit. Tanaka was really great in this taking multiple massive bumps of of back body drops including one where he rotated onto his face, throwing his sneaky little thrust and moving around like a speed demon. Set up to the first face in peril was great as Rheingans locked on a Boston Crab on Tanaka as they had been working on the heels back. Ref goes to grab Patera and Diamond fucking kills Rheingans with a clothesline. Rheingans was really good as well as his FIP segment was extremely well developed with some great teases including the old Ricky Morton corner charge spot, a roll through on a body press and a neat looking flash small package off the ropes. I really loved the way he worked simple little mat exchanges with Diamond early and the monkey flip spot with Tananka which looked great. Lots of good subtle things in this like Tanaka holding the rope on a Rheingans dropkick attempt which was a great visual escape and Rheingans clearly trying to stop the cross armbreaker by clenching his hands and then trying to power out only to be pulled back down. Really good heel cut off spots in this too. Diamond took his fair share of good bumps including a crazy over the top bump off an atomic drop that I thought was setting up the finish, but we got yet another teaser. Patera's roll into the hot tag was pretty amusing. Finish with the ref getting creamed by a Rheingans lariat and then the heels accidentally costing each other the title do to a shot with DDP's "ring" was well executed. This got plenty of time and got a really big reaction in front of an anemic AWA crowd. This should definitely make the set. Patera/Rheingans post-win promo. EXTRA DDP promo. Rheingans/Patera promo Wendi Richter v. Shirley Black Awful match with a terrible finish. Dear god this was fucking horrid. DDP/Badd Company promo. Larry Zbyszko v. Rocking Randy Rocking Randy looks kinda like Weird Al and is a pretty fun jobber as he whips around and is really good at getting his ass kicked. Larry wins with a crushing piledriver. A lot of fun.
