Destruction Crew promo. They are not pleased about not being rated as Team Captains for the AWA's newest gimmick - The Team Challenge Series! Bock putting over the Team Challenge Series in sit down with Lee Marshall. The man was really good at selling anything. Kokena v. Jerry Lynn This is one of those bizarro matches that seems like it never could have happened and yet it did. Of course Lynn was a jobber back then but still. He takes a really horrifying face plant bump at one point. Kokena music video Backstage segment on the Team Challenge Series picking teams. Larry Zbyszko's team is first. He ends up with Patera, Sato, Wayne Bloom, Bob Orton, Ivan Koloff, Jake Miliman and Kokena. Zbyszko's reaction to Milliman is great. EXTRA Larry Z promo. Great Larry Z promo filled with grandiosity putting over the Team Challenge Series. EXTRA Backstage sement on the TCS picking Sarges teams. Slaughter's team is Jerry Blackwell, Bobby Fulton, Johnny Stewart, Pat Tanaka, Rocky Stone, The Unknown Solider and Debeers. Sarge's reaction to the Col is hysterical and the Unknown Solider stuff is class too. EXTRA Russian Brute v. Red Tyler The only good thing about Russian Brute matches is you get to see Ox Baker Ox Baker promo Backstage segment on the TCS picking teams. Baron's team is Mike George, Paul Diamond, Van Vader, Todd Becker, Tommy Jammer, Russian Brute, The Trooper. Baron talking about Ox Baker was funny for all the wrong reasons. EXTRA Bock reads off a wild card list that includes names like Bigelow, Steamboat and the RnR's. Then they interview Greg Gagne who says basically the same thing. Shameless. Sgt. Slaughter/Baron Von Raschke v. Destruction Crew This is such a strange match on paper and it translates that way in action. Most of the match is built around Baron as FIP which is just awkward. I can't say it's bad because the crowd is into it but Baron's selling is really dramatic and yet he takes offense very shakily. At one point Bloom appears to be livid with him and just tosses him with a body slam. Hot tag is well built to and it's a typical AWA tag as Slaughter clocks Enos with a clothesline he bumps viciously for, but then takes a sledgehammer to the back of his head coming off the ropes and goes FIP himself. Enos hits a nice leaping headbutt and Sarge bumps to the floor. Sarge gets the hot tag off a missed Enos headbutt off the second rope. Baron locks the claw on Bloom and Enos and Sarge end up on the floor. All hell breaks loose and the faces get DQ'ed for using a sledgehammer introduced by Johnny V. I liked big parts of this, though the finish was really lame. Baron/Sarge promo.
January 30, 201213 yr comment_5493599 I think the Slaughter/Raschke tag match was a semi final bout in the AWA tag title tournament (No prelim bouts, just two semi final matches)
