A recap of the initial announcment from Bleacher Report:

WWE Breaking News: CM Punk's DVD Set and Wrestling Road Diaries 2

CM Punk opened the latest episode of Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling Podcast with the news that his three-DVD box set has been greenlit and is in the works. Punk also mentioned how he has been given complete control over the development of the set.

"I get to pick a bunch of matches to put on there, pick who I get interviewed," Punk said. "I'm doing everything; I was told I'm in charge, so they are screwed. I've already made a lot of people angry. I went and watched Randy's and Chris Jericho's.

"I never bothered to watch any documentary of people I work with cause it feels kind of strange to me, you know, and 80 percent of it is, I don't care. They told me what they want, and I sent this email of what I wanted. I hated their narrator and their music."

Punk tweeted the following tweets today:

Man. This DVD is going to be so great. #LWF #MAW #SDW #IWA #IWC #ROH #OVW #WWE

Who owns the IWA footage?" --funniest thing I've heard all day.

Obviously just being a WWE Superstar his DVD is overdue at this stage and it is an exciting project solely based on his WWE run but the muted inclusion of non-WWE owned footage has me really intrigued given all the politics, ownership rights and WWE's anal production rules.

Wonder if things like the Samoa Joe matches are going to find their way on there? They're obviously some of his best matches, but with Joe in TNA and ROH presumably owning the rights you wouldn't think they'd make it. Benoit's DVD was the only one I can remember that had a lot of stuff not already in the WWE tape library. The ***** hour draw won't be on there for time reasons, would be nice to see the All Star Extravaganza match included at least (although a lot of the cool stuff in that requires you to have seen the first two matches).

It's funny because at the time of the Joe v Punk series, I remember a lot of people saying "Samoa Joe might better this, but no way will CM Punk ever have a better match", and actually since 2005 or so its gone completely the other way. It was Joe we were seeing peaking in those bouts rather than Punk.

Should be a fun set anyway, worth a DL at least. Be interesting to see if he really does have full creative control over it or whether that's just the PR line to stay in gimmick.

Only six matches? Lame. You could easily fit more than that on one disk, most of the choices are pretty short. And most of the ones chosen were pretty obvious gimmes; except for that one Raw tag match which appears to just be wasting space. Why the hell wouldn't the Cena match be on there, too?
