I don't know that they needed the overly-aggressive rudo ref stuff, but I'm pretty tolerant of that for the most part, and accepted it on it's own terms. Beyond that, it's a match mostly built around guys throwing hands, and both guys looked really good throwing hands. I also popped big for Mercenario socking the ref at the finish, leading to the DQ. Not sure if that's a valuable lesson about not taking good things for granted or just Mercanario being an idiot, but he socked him really good, and the dude went flying off of it. I'll probably be alone in this, but I'm throwing it up as a solid nomination. [WWA 10/17/87]
