Chavo/Mando Guerrero v. Dennis Stamp/Greg Robertson

 

Guerrero's in AWA are always fun because about a third of what they do looks awesome, another third looks sloppy as fuck and the other third is shit that makes you curious as to what the fuck is going on. The finish here was comically bad with Mando face planting on an attempted top rope clothesline.

 

Tejo Khan v. Scott Hudson

 

This was fun too watch because both guys were clearly a danger to themselves and each other. Just horrifying.

 

The Big K or whatever the fuck talking about the women's wrestling scene. Man this shit had to have been the bane of Khawk's existence.

 

Jerry Lawler v. Curt Hennig

Top Guns v. Scott Hudson/Verne Deaton

 

My favorite moment of this was this weird spot where Rice goes for a stomp and Hudson just sort of moves away. I mean it wasn't even a botch it was just this odd variation on a simple spot unlike anything I've ever seen.

Solidat Ustinov/Tejo Khan interview with Bill Apter. Ustinov is confused about Lawler as champion. Man his accent is fucking terrible and ridiculous. If these guys were around today they would be feuding with Santino.

Solidat Ustinov v. Dennis Stamp

 

I love Marshall trying to put over Stamp on commentary. Stamp has to be the most underutilized guy on these tapings as he had good mannerisms, good high spots, could bump and was actually pretty over as both a face and heel with the live crowds. This was the second best Ustinov singles match I've ever seen and the best was with Lawler.

 

Badd Company v. Mando/Chavo Guerrero

 

The opening of this sees Chavo demonstrate appropriate form on a hip toss to the ref and then the Guerreros stretch Diamond. Seriously some of the holds they bust out look really sick and then Mando fucking crushes his leg with a splash. They go into this stretch where Diamond tries to take control off of criss crosses and keeps getting taken down in these really impactful ways. And then, since this is an AWA Guerrero's match they fuck up a surfboard spot and Tanaka comes in. Tanaka can take some offense, but I really wanted to see him karate thrust some motherfuckers. Guerreros get DQ'ed and go haywire. I think I"ve seen this before and can't rememer what I thought of it, but this felt flat here.

Every time I'm forced to remember "The Big K" a little part of me dies inside.
