Posted May 4, 201213 yr comment_5501667 Nick Bockwinkel v. Rocky Stone Surprisingly competitive match that bumps up on the verge of being a nomination at times, but I can't see this making the set. Curt Hennig/Scott Hall v. Earthquake Ferris/Mike Tolos This went on too long. Larry Zbyszko v. Chris Curtis. I enjoy any Larry match where he shit talks the fans and is cranky for the bulk of the match and this fits though it's not worth going out of your way to watch. Sherri Martel v. Killer Tomato Holy fuck what a name. I really enjoyed this actually. Martel is such an ornery looking broad and Killer Tomato looks like a female Richard Simmons. Tomato shows some fire early, but Martel comes back with the heeling, including a really sick looking leg drop. Tomato reverses the momentum and takes over with some low blow type stuff of all things and the crowd goes fucking nuts. Martel cuts her down with a hooking clothesline and then a semi-botched legdrop, which results in Martel kicking her in the face. Then Martel deliberately kicks Tomato right in the snatch. I was impressed by Tomato's selling of the ovaries after this and Martel follows up with the splash for the win. I seriously liked this a good bit, but it only goes about six minutes, so anything more than low end is pushing it. Bizarre video with the San Diego chicken beating the hell out of an ump and an ump slamming him. WTF? Larry Z debates the merits of Hansen being stripped of the title. EXTRA Col. Debeers v. Scott Hall Debeers shit talks pre-match and says there are no good American men left, but Hall ambushes from behind and we get some huge bumps from Debeers - and this isn't even a match. Hall promo follows. Jerry Blackwell/Midnight Rockers v. Boris Zhukov/Nord The Barbarian/Ali Khan The opening of this with Nord and Blackwell dueling chairs was unexpected and odd. Good, but strange match. Jannetty has taped ribs and Michaels runs right through a nasty Nord boot at one point and yet Blackwell ends up going FIP just seconds after a spot where he deadlift slams Nord (which was cooler than it sounds). Now Blackwell is always good as a face in peril and is good here, but I have no fucking clue why he's FIP here when the Rockers are right there. Regardless he has some fun hope spots, a cool punch exchange with Zhukov and then Nord goes to a bearhug of all things. Why the fuck would you bearhug Blackwell? This kind of falls apart toward the end, but I still thought it was a pretty good match. Can't see it on the set though.
