Posted May 7, 201213 yr comment_5501986 This starts with Hugo interviewing Ricky Santana who speaks in English. "Soulman" Rocky Johnson vs. Hercules Ayala (1/27/88) This is JIP and not really that good. Rocky is fun though. Then we get a promo by Jaggers & Kroffat followed up by Chicky & Ron along with a funny Buddy Landell promo. Ricky Santana vs. El Exotico (July 1988) Squash. Next we get a promo by the Renegade Warriors along with Huracan Jr. & Miguel Jr. Then we get Colon vs. Zuhkov which I've seen already. After that we get clips of Renegade Warriors vs. Afa & Chicky. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. Chris Youngblood (July 1988) Finally some Budro in action. Youngblood fires up on Budro early forcing Budro to slow down the pace a little but it doesn't work out as Youngblood throws Budro around a bit. Budro would get the advantage but not for long as Chris fired back with chops and a big boot. Chris would miss a diving knee off the middle rope though which allowed Budro to lock on the figure-four which makes Chris submit fairly quickly. Wow that was disappointing. Next we get another Budro promo with Chicky. Ricky Santana vs. Assassin #2 (July 1988) Squash. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Johnny Rogers (July 1988) This jobber tries to attack Abby as he comes in the ring so Abby just brutalizes this guy. Chicky Starr & "Rambo" Ron Starr vs. Victor Jovica & Armando Salgado (July 1988) This is JIP and this is competitive since Jovica is in there. Hercules Ayala vs. Mark Youngblood (July 1988) This cuts out before the finish. Bart & Brad Batten vs. Mr. Pogo & Kendo Nagasaki (July 1988) The Battens attack the Japanese before the bell but their advantage doesn't last long as the Japanese take turns working over Bart. Bart would eventually tag in Brad before the 4-way brawl starts ending with Brad hitting a dropkick off the top rope on Kendo but Kendo would get up and took an inside cradle to end the match. Nothing match that lasted like 3 minutes. "Bulldog" Don Kent vs. Armando Salgado (July 1988) Kent is ancient here. Then we get promos at ringside by the Battens and Pogo/Nagasaki about their earlier match. "Dirty" Dutch Mantell vs. Masked Jobber (July 1988) Squash. TNT vs. Chicky Starr (July 1988) Chicky attacks TNT as he comes in the ring and takes it to the floor where he chokes him with a flag. Chicky keeps up the attack until TNT fights back throws him back in the ring. TNT uses his strikes to send Chicky crawling back to the floor so he could recover and to slow the pace down. TNT would catch Chicky when he comes back in the ring and takes him to the mat using an armbar. This is getting quite tedious and they go to a break with Chicky now in charge sending TNT to the floor. The match continues to be nothing but restholds and stalling until TNT finally goes back to using his strikes to win. Bad match.
June 30, 201312 yr comment_5549518 Buddy Landell mainly tangled with TNT during this run. I wouldn't be surprised if TNT was a replacement for Invader in that match against Chicky Starr.
November 16, 201311 yr comment_5572990 Man that Ricky Santana promo is something. Rocky Johnson vs. Hercules Ayala This is not a match up I want to see. It was actually better than I would have guess, particularly when they went to the floor and started brawling, but it's not a match anyone should waste their time on. Love the American Flag bandanas the Jayhawks have. I also liked Buddy's promo. Ricky Santana vs. El Exotico Squash. Colon v. Boris has already been seen. Chicky Starr/Afa v. Renegade Warriors JIP with the faces already FIP. Not very good. I wouldn't call this bad but it seemed a lot longer than it was and there was nothing about this to really hold my interest other than Chicky's bumping at the end. Buddy Landell vs. Chris Youngblood Decent sprint, but agree with Kris that you want more out of this. Buddy ends up looking tough in this, but he could have had a solid lengthy match with Youngblood. I enjoyed the Abby mauling for what it was. Chicky Starr & "Rambo" Ron Starr vs. Victor Jovica & Armando Salgado JIP technically though I doubt anything is missing. Old man Jovica doing the headlock/headscissors take down and then a rope running spot with Ron Starr was seomething else. Loved Starr's vicious back trip on Salgado. Man Starr throws these great strikes in this that I can't even explain, bu he is a guy who's stock is rapidly rising with me. This was basically a competitive squash, but it was fun. Herc v. Youngblood barely gets going before the first part of the disc ends. Bart & Brad Batten vs. Mr. Pogo & Kendo Nagasaki I wouldnt' call this a nothing match, I'd call it a fun sprint that you wish could have been longer. Nothing but action here, great pace, some really big spots, and a well timed twin magic finish. What was here was good, just not enough. There is a sport shop with Ricky Santana looking like he wants to die in here. Don Kent vs. Armando Salgado Decent back and fourth match, Kent was old as piss, but worked stiff as hell and looked like a guy who was angry at the world. Dutch squash was pretty fun. TNT vs. Chicky Starr I didn't have near the problem with this Kris had, certainly wouldn't call it a bad match. It was slow in parts, but not that slow and I actually thought they did a good job coming up for big spots whether it be a Chicky suplex, a TNT combo or whatever. The front end of this was actually a lot of fun and I loved the closing sequence. Not enough for a nomination, but no way would I call it bad.
