Posted May 12, 201213 yr comment_5502385 Huracan Castillo Jr. & Ricky Santana vs. El Exotico & Dan Kroffat (March 1989) Kroffat is teamed with a jobber here and he has issues with him of course giving a comedy element here which was very rare in WWC. Exotico is treated like a total jobber here but is fun for his role although he looks like a member of Menudo while Kroffat was on here bumping hard for the faces and looking good on offense. Santana works FIP here and now Exotico actually gets a little offense in but Kroffat works the meat of the section. I liked Santana grabbing Kroffat's leg as he tried a spin kick then turning it into a kneebreaker as the spot to get the hot tag. Castillo comes in and runs wild starting the 4-way brawl ending with Castillo coming off the top with a cross body block on Kroffat to win. This was very fun and I'm throwing it up as a low-end pick.
February 10, 201312 yr comment_5534335 I am not sure if Castillo and Santana are your PR equivalent of blowjob babyface team, but Exotico/Kroffat are Memphis as fuck in this. Tons of misdirection, mistimed, accidentally hitting each other, bitching at each other, stooging spots and they all work really well. Exotico looks and acts like a Latin Billy Joe Travis which is a major plus. The faces take a big bulk of this, but it's done smartly so that it doesn't come across like they are eating the match alive. I really liked a lot of the offense in this as well. Castillo hit some cool suplex variations and a tope, Kroffat does his flashy stuff, Exotico brings a nice splash and Santana throws some sweet chops and cuts off a slow motion Kroffat spinkick with a really nice shinbuster. That one in particular was done seamlessly and looked great. Kroffat also took some really sweet bumps in this, getting height on a face plant and running right through a bit lariat. Finishing spot with the dropkdown/splash combo was perfectly executed. This was kind of like your RnR's v. Nasty Boys match from the AWA Set. I thought this was a Solid, if not Easy Nomination
December 18, 201311 yr comment_5576508 Castillo is so bizarre in that he will do something bad in a match and then something good. For example, here he mistimes a dropkick early but later does an awesome front facelock suplex. What the hell? Anyways, this was real fun and something that I can see on a set for sure. Kroffat and Exotico were fun as the heel team doing misdirection spots and nearly coming to blows on the floor. I loved Castillo's face shine minus the bad dropkick too and Kroffat ate his offense real well. The in-peril section was strong and Santana worked mostly here with Kroffat which was even better. Kroffat hit a nice suplex and we got a cool chop battle going on as well. They ran through a couple of good hope spots and the final comeback spot was holy shit level great when Santana catches Kroffat on a spin kick and gives him a shinbreaker. Castillo comes in and cleans house and we get more fun face offense to close. The finish was really well timed as Dylan mentioned. I'd say this is a SOLID nomination.
