Posted May 14, 201213 yr comment_5502531 The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) vs. Jonathan Holiday & Tama (March 1989) Holiday was fun here getting the fans riled up. The action here was fairly decent but nothing spectacular. Next we get clips of a scaffold match between the Battens & Youngbloods. White Angel (Curtis Thompson) vs. Chicky Starr (March 1989) Fans are nuts for the White Angel here as he attacks Starr and beats him from inside to outside the ring. Thompson is really green here and can't do much but Chicky was really good for him here selling and bumping hard for him and making him look credible. Chicky was fun on offense here and we actually got double juice here which surprised me a little bit. White Angel would hit a diving clothesline to start his comeback before throwing some shitty punches and a lot of Angel's offense looked inspired by Ultimate Warrior. Chicky would hit him low before the battle went back to the floor for a double countout. November 20, 201311 yr comment_5573402 The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) vs. Jonathan Holiday & Tama This was both one of the most frustrating matches I've watched for this project and one of the most pleasant surprises. It was frustrating because of all the matches to be effectively complete and to get fifteen plus minutes, this is probably the least consequential match they could have picked. It was a pleasant surprise because while the Youngbloods were a bit clunky in there, and some of the transitions were less than ideal, Holiday was pretty awesome in this. His pre-match trolling of the audience was great and something you rarely see in Puerto Rico. All match long it was his mannerisms, bumping and antics that really carried the day and he even busted out a really swank looking belly-to-belly and solid lariat when on offense. I also dug the heels using the entire ring apron as a weapon during the control segment. The finish was kind of "eh," but I really did enjoy the hell out of Holiday, and I could see this being one of the last few matches on a set. Finish of the Battens v. Castillo/Perez scaffold match. Man the scaffold looks huge and my god does Castillo take a terrifying bump. Steve Strong video. This is an EXTRA White Angel (Curtis Thompson) vs. Chicky Starr I thought this was a great performance from Chicky against a very green musclehead, in a match that probably should have been terrible. I like Chicky, but he is a hit or miss worker and on paper this does not look like it would be all that good, instead this is a well developed match, with Starr bumping, selling and stooging his ass off in the opening and then working a solid control segment. You could argue that the chinlock was a bit tedious but Thompson was surprisingly adapt at working from underneath and the crowd stayed with this. They did some fun cut off spots with Chicky maintaining control, before Thompson muscles back up with the crowd going nuts for it. I loved Chicky doing the finger wag from the prone position and desperately trying to flee and then using that against Thompson with a nice looking posting as the match got tossed out. Good carry job.
December 13, 201311 yr comment_5576067 The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) vs. Jonathan Holiday & Tama - This was very good. Holiday is an awesome heel and the stalling segment to start ruled. Holiday and Tama's interactions with the crowd were awesome. Holiday does some nice stooging and can't get anything going. Holiday's wild bump into the turnbuckle was great. He and Tama end up on the floor where fans flip them off and give them shit and it's great. Back in the ring, Holiday nearly kills Chris with a belly to back and we get a small in-peril section. Mark comes in and cleans house for a few minutes. Holiday is a great bumper and takes a few big ones here. We end up getting a longer heat section with Chris again and it's really well done. Holiday and Tama use great heel tactics including a great turnbuckle spot with Tama choking Chris. Holiday does his insane Holiday lock which looks nasty as hell. Chris hits a big double clothesline and makes the hot tag. Mark cleans house and the Youngbloods lock in a double sleeper on the heels. Time expires though and it's a time limit draw. This is good enough for a LOW END nomination. Holiday was great. Battens vs. Castillo/Perez Scaffold finish - God, that scaffold is high. Castillo's bump was frightening. White Angel (Curtis Thompson) vs. Chicky Starr (March 1989) - Chicky was great in this. He got his ass beat all over the building and into the basketball court. He started to bleed but took control and bloodied White Angel. Chicky locked in a chin lock and had a nice cut off spot with a knee into the ribs off the ropes. White Angel came back for good after a huge clothesline that Chicky took a great bump off of. The match ended in a double count-out as both guys were brawling on the floor and Chicky posted White Angel to escape. I liked this but I think it falls short of a nomination. The match before this was clearly better I thought. I'm giving this a NO.
