Posted May 16, 201213 yr comment_5502680 For a match that I had literally no expectations for beforehand, this turned out ridiculously fun. Agreed there is some awkward looking stuff like Gallo blowing the up-and-over corner escape spot (do we have a name for that? We probably should) and Mestizo throwing one of the worst missed clotheslines I've ever seen. But there was a ton of really cool stuff in this match that made it stand out from everything else I've seen. I was predisposed to liking Zorro de Oro just because his rhyming name amused me, but he looked like I guy should not just have heard about now. He was a really good cowardly stooge heel here. Really got into his early stalling attempts and his reactions to the crowd, and he works all sorts of fun heel shtick into the match. He really lays it in when he's brawling, too. The whole finishing sequence of the first fall was great, with Zorro hammering Tauro in the corner, and then Mestizo comes up behind him, and Zorro just instinctively slugs him before he realizes who it is. Then Mestizo unwittingly back body drops Gallo into Zorro, and the whole bit just looked awesome. Mestizo was very solid and played off of everyone well. Gallo was a fun, energetic, eager technico, and made a good foil for the rudos. Tauro had some nifty spots, and I dug him vaulting off of Gallo's back to take out Zorro near the end. I don't know if it's quite good enough for me to blow a personal pick on, but it feels too good to not be nominated.
