For what it's worth, I suspect if I dig my RSP-W Convention / Get Together / ECW Show tape out of whatever box it's in, we'll see idiots like Scherer tossing around Internet Wrestling Community or something very close to it back in 1995 before the term became overused. They did it in a more idealistic and delusional fashion rather than Fan vs Fan slagging. But it was equally stupid.

I think the topic would have been better presented if it had been about these things:

1. Talking points in wrestling discussion that don't always stand up to scrutiny.

2. Myths some wrestling fans believe because either a popular "dirt sheet" writer or popular "wrestling website" writer wrote something that embraces that myth.

That really seems to be what Wrestling X is getting at.

I agree the "IWC" stuff is silly and it was just something that got tossed around by certain people who were discussing wrestling on the Internet, likely their way of pretending that they were somehow a special group of wrestling fans whose opinions were more important than others.

Yeah, in hindsight I've made a few "lost the plot" type posts recently. I'll put it down to being pretty distracted, despite trying to find a distraction through the medium of professional wrestling! Nonetheless, I feel back on form now.

The "IWC" term is quite silly, but some people feel comfortable to label themselves with that term. I think it's important for everyone to have an open mind and not like the things other people like just because of their reputation or because other people have latched onto the hook. I think we all understand what it's like to have a deep interest in something that many of your peers in everyday life don't.
