Posted June 8, 201213 yr comment_5505910 Road Warriors v. Jos Leduc/Dino Bravo Bravo and Road Warrior Hawk have a very intense pre-match stare down. Hawk shoves Bravo around early, but Dino responds by dropkicking the posing Hawk in the back knocking him to the floor. Fucking crazy to see Animal do the "hold onto the arm" counter to an arm drag. It's weird watching the Roadies work over the arm. On the one hand you admire the effort, on the other you expect them to be massacring people. Leduc tags in and they do a spot with Hawk going to a head lock, but Leduc picks him up and just heaves him off. Hawk with a big slam on Leduc who gets right up but sells the back as they are sort of booking this as a "Hoss v. Hoss" match. Animal with a charge at the ropes but Leduc hits him with this weird dropkick type move and then hits another with Animal taking a leaping/twisting bump that was really unexpected. Dino comes in and works over Animal and at this point I start to get really surprised by the amount of the match the Roadies have sent bumping. Just as I say this the Roadies take over on Bravo. Roadies are so strange as they have really cool big spots, but have to bridge everything with rest holds that really hurt the flow of things. Hawk ends up missing a second rope splash which enables Leduc to get the hot tag. Ridiculous spot with Animal blocking a backbreaker attempt leading to Leduc tumbling to the floor, then Bravo decking Animal with him flying over the ropes to the floor. Bravo gets tied up beating on Ellering and the Roadies piledrive Leduc on the floor which he blades for. Ringside fans are up close gawking as Leduc as the ref counts the faces out. This was far from great, but the theatrical bumps of the Roadies, the give and take, and the brutal finish put this safely in the camp of something I could see making a set. Jos Leduc/Tony Parisis/Dino Bravo v. King Tonga/Pierra Lefevre/Richard Charland JIP but I think very little is missing. Several fun rope running spos with Lefevre early as he gets isolated by the babyfaces. Cool moment as Lefevre goes to slam Leduc and Jos falls on him. Charland distracts Leduc which allows Lefevre to finally tag out to Tonga. Not a huge deal, but a novel way to set up an escape route for a heel. Watching fucking Haku and Dino Bravo do mat exchange/roll up spots was kind of surreal. Heels try to isolate Bravo, but he fights out of the corner with big forearms and tags in Leduc who immediately gets cut off and hit with a sick knee from Lefevre. Leduc ends up as the FIP and is actually pretty good selling for the heels who cut off the ring on him. Charland hits a semi-botched, but super dangerous looking piledriver into a roll up combo for a near fall. I really did like the work on Leduc, but was annoyed that the hot tag was so subdued. Bravo came in and hit a cool atomic drop/suplex combo on Charland, before tagging into Parsis who hit a seated senton for a near fall. Leduc locked on a bearhug on Lefevre as the rest of the rest of both teams brawled, with Lefevre submitting right around the time Tonga crushed Bravo with multiple back postings on the floor. This is about 75 percent of the match and it was a very fun tag so I'm pushing it on. Road Warrior Animal/Paul Ellering v. Jos Leduc/Rick Martel IP with almost nothing missing on the front end. I wonder where the fuck Hawk was. Babyfaces take control on Ellering and then on Animal but Martel eats knees on his slingshot press. Ellering comes in and hits a nice gutbuster but tags right out. Nice crossbody hope spot from Martel but he gets put right back down with a deep powerslam. Ellering comes in and locks on a Boston Crab with the heels working leverage spots on it behind the refs back. Animal in with a press slam for a near fall. Kind of an uneventful hot tag and Leduc opens up on Ellering, including a dropkick. Animal bumps Martel over the ropes as Ellering submits to a Leduc bearhug. This was well worked, but needed a better hot tag run to be a nomination. King Tonga/Richard Charland v. Ray/Jacques Rougeau JIP at the fifteen mark. Charland took some huge bumps in this. Tonga ends up snapping and attacking Tyler which results in a Butch Reed run-in and attack of Tonga. The Rougeaus walk out leaving Tonga to be ambushed by the heels. Maybe an EXTRA The St. Jean Baptiste Massacre! Great angle as a Garvins v. Rougeaus match stops before it starts with Precious spraying perfume in Jacques eyes, while the Garvins maul Raymond. One of the Rougeau family members - maybe Jacques Sr. - gets into the ring and they kick the fuck out of him to including a sick Boston Crab/diving knee combo. Jacques gets severely bloodied and just as it calms downs the heels show back up with Ronnie spiking Ray with a huge piledriver. Really an excellent angle. EXTRA Dino Bravo v. Leo Burke Pretty cool rope running spot that ends with a nice scoop slam from Dino. Another fun sequence that ends in a nice back body drop bump from Leo. Leo finally takes over and hits some nice forearms and a neckbreaker, with Dino powering out of a near fall. Cool finish with Dino hitting the atomic drop/suplex combo. Fun little match, but not a nomination. Post-match someone runs out in a mask and bats the fuck of Bravo, belting him among other things. Leo joins in. Ray Rougeau v. Jimmy Garvin The ref having to hold Ray back from beating Precious was something. Garvin stalls and stalls. He eventually gets into the ring and opens up with his power knees in the corner but Ray comes back and has him reeling with a serious of slams and back body drops before Jimmy goes to the floor. Precious tries to distract Ray, but he turns around hits an atomic drop. Jimmy takes over but misses a huge splash off the top. Ray starts lighting him up with strikes that look excellent, but the credits start to role. Fuck! Ray locks on a sleeper but leaves to deal with Precious and Jimmy crushes him with a knee to the back as the show goes off the air. God damnit this was excellent up to that point. Son of a bitch. Jacques/Ray Rougeau v. Ron/Jimmy Garvin The Garvins try and ambush the Rougeaus again, but the Rougeaus quickly counter. I liked the touch of Jimmy getting beaten and bumped in his robe, ala Jacques from the original angle. Ray smashes Ron hard into the post and then piledrives him. Ronnie is just stumbling around on dead legs getting beat to shit by the Rougeaus and the crowd is loving it. He blades and the Rougeaus target the cut. Jimmy tries to make the save and gets heaved off the top rope. Rougeau's spike piledrive Ronnie who is convulsing ala Terry Funk. Every time he tries to come back he gets beat down. Really cool strike exchange with Jacques and Ronnie hits his humping head butt and then stumbles wildly to a tag to Jimmy which really comes across as the most desperate act of a desperate man imaginable. Jimmy quickly gets back body dropped and Ronnie comes in only to get the old double head smash against Jimmy. Ronnie just desperately tugs down on Ray's tights and starts choking him, with Jimmy following up with similar tactics. Hilarious "censored" graphic over the bloody head of Ronnie and they fucking go to a rope running spot in the ring with Jimmy kneeing Ray dangerously close to the balls for a near fall. Fuck Jimmy for taking this wild affair down to the mat with a chinlock, but the crowd is molten and it doesn't last long as Ray powers up, only for Ronnie to tag in and try and pin Ray with a modified crucifix of all things. Jacques makes the save and Jimmy runs in with a rope and starts choking Ray while Jacques and Ronnie brawl with the comical censored graphics doing a poor job of covering up the blood from Ronnie's cut. Cool moment as Ron just desperately stumbles to the apron but he's on the wrong side of the ring! Back and fourth rope running spot that ends with a collision and Ray hot tagging Jacques. Ronnie eats a dropkick, but the heels cut him down. They go for a double clothesling, but Jacques ducks and hits a leaping double dropkick on both heels. Jacques gets a hold of Jimmy and crotches him on the post while Ronnie and Ray slug it out in the ring. The match gets tossed out, but this was the sort of crazy affair you wanted out of this feud and will be a lock for either a Canada or Other Territories Set. Dino Bravo v. Masked Superstar Fun slugfest spot early and then Bravo takes a really reckless bump to the floor. They do the old AWA style "heel keeps the babyface at bay on the floor" stuff which I have grown to like though I'm not sure it resonates well with others. Back in the ring Dino tries to make a comeback with a corner charge but eats a double knee to the face. Gotta love the sharpness of Superstars shots as he starts kneeing Bravo right in the ribs. Bravo comes back with some nice punches and Superstar bumps throat first on the top rope which was cool. Superstar tries to comeback again but gets cut down and takes a back body drop bump. Bravo goes for the mask, but Superstar scracmbles for the ropes. He goes for it again and has it almost half way off when Tyler and Creatchman run in the ring and Dino lays them out. Dino keeps working over Superstar, when the other masked guy who looks to be Jos Leduc hits the ring with a young Samu and they triple team Bravo, including lashing him with a belt. If you are someone who views the post-match as part of the match I could see this moving forward. I generally am not though and see this as more of an EXTRA Road Warriors v. King Tonga/Dino Bravo My disc gets REAL choppy here, but I believe this is the same match from the first Disc Jacques/Ray Rougeau v. Ron/Jimmy Garvin First part of this match is difficult to watch because of my disc being a little fucked, but Jacques does hit a nice dropkick on Ronnie who bumps to the floor for it. Ray ends up FIP and they do a cool spot with Jacques running over and brawling with Ronnie on the apron and out to the floor, with Jimmy still in control of Ray. Nice rope running hope spot for Ray who goes down to a Jimmy clothesline for a near fall. Ronnie comes in and tries for a quick fall, before cinching in a choke that the ref has to break. Ronnie goes to his weird Schoolboy/semi half crab thing that I always thought looked bizarre but makes sense as a spot. Cool hope spot as Ray gets in a jackknife pinning combo for a near fall, but Jimmy breaks out and goes to a Camel Clutch. Another really sweet hope spot as Ray hits a deep powerslam, but Jimmy quick tags in and Ronnie pulls his trunks to cut off his momentum toward Jacques. Ray locks on a sleeper, but Jimmy breaks it up and Ronnie locks on a front face lock. Ray almost makes the corner, but Ronnie pulls him up by the face, walks him over to the heel corner, punches him in the face, and then goes for a pinning combination with his modified crucifix. Really awesome sequence, with Jacques breaking it up, leading to the hot tag. Jacques lights up Jimmy and Ronnie. Kind of an interesting tease as the faces try to do the corner to corner collision spot, but the heels fight it off twice. Ronnie steals a win with his legs on the ropes, but the second ref overturns it and while the heels prematurely celebrate they get rolled up by the Rougeaus to a massive pop and lose the Loser Leaves Town match! Really cool match even with the trouble with the my disc for the first couple of minutes.
