Heavyweight Title: Sangre Chicana © vs. Ringo Mendoza (10/28/83) Really fun matwork to start with Ringo taking a wristlock from the ring to the floor back to the ring back to the floor. Both guys are feeling each other out and it has that indy standoff thing going on which was cool. Ringo takes the advantage hitting a nice plancha to the floor before submitting Chicana to take the 1st fall. Ringo continues his domination here really rocking Chicana with some fun knee smashes before missing a plancha off the ropes giving Chicana an opportunity and he goes for a Stretch Muffler which looks like it hurts like shit to tap out Ringo. The 3rd fall kicks into another gear with Chicana going for a Gory Especial setting the table as both guys go for various submissions and this is really awesome shit as Chicana makes Ringo submit after they go to a double pinfall but Chicana gets his shoulder up for the win. The postmatch was great as Chicana & Cota are picking up all the money in the ring that the fans throw in there. Very strong technical match and I think this moves forward easily.
August 21, 201312 yr comment_5557515 First fall was solid with the dropkick and plancha from Mendoza as a highlight. 2nd fall, Mendoza getting nasty attacking the nexk. There is one point where Chicana escapes a neck breaker but it loked like a bothed spot but I think it was planned. Then Mendoza goes ffor a submission that Chicana keeps escaping an that looked cool. Mendoza fucks up and Chicana gets the submission counter for the 2nd fall. I liked the direction the 2nd fall was going. With a strong 3rd fall, this goes on. Mendoza selling the back from the submission so that's cool. Chicana tries to capitalize with a Gory special but Mendoza reverses into a pinfall. Nice. Really solid until the stupid double finish. There was enough good stuff to keep this in the mix but by no means is this a lock. If Phil pushes it on, I won't fight it but if he doesn't, this goes in the recycle bin.
August 21, 201312 yr comment_5557698 It wasn't technically a double finish as Chicana got his shoulder up, which is actually a nice twist on that tired trope. I thought all the matwork was really great and it is cool to see Chicana work this kind of match, although I was waiting for him to snap and beat the piss out Ringo. I am pushing it on
