Posted July 6, 201213 yr comment_5509426 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLdCPaZX6wU Texas Death Match for the WWF Tag Titles: Tony Garea & Rick Martel © vs. The Moondogs (King & Rex) (2/14/81) This has Monsoon as the referee and had some really hard hitting violence as the Dogs just pounded on the babyfaces here who were really fun at selling the punishment while dishing it out as well. Lots of stiff shots from punches, knees, elbows, and whatever body parts they could use to pound on the other. Monsoon stays out of the way until the end where Rex hits him with an axehandle from the top so Monsoon puts him out of the ring while King eats a double backdrop for the pin. Finish was flat for this match and it wasn't a true Texas Death match but this was just fun violence and feels like a fair nomination.
July 7, 201213 yr comment_5509433 This was violent in the Garvin-Valentine way, not the Piper-Orndorff school of violence. I didn't like the finish so if these two teams have a similar match with a better finish, we can drop this but this match-up absolutely makes the set. SOLID NOMINATION
July 7, 201213 yr comment_5509440 Really enjoyed Garea in this as he was a crowbar. Liked Kings athletic bumping too. Lots of nasty face punching and kicking in the throat. I had no problem with the finish, and felt like it was earned.
June 12, 201411 yr comment_5607047 I guess I'm in the minority here. I didn't like it very much and thought it was average at best. Though their was great moments throughout. Like the Moondogs being real agressive like that nasty hair pull. Garea really brought the nastiness, and Martel's hot tag was great.
