There's heat in their later Philly match as well but the production doesn't allow it to be as blatant plus I honestly believe the Houston crowd was more into it. I like how Hogan can't knock Gang off his feet. He is successful with a nice knee lift in the early going that gets a big pop. Gang gains control and beats on Hulk on the floor and smashes him into the timekeepers's table. He does some solid back work and locks in a tight bear hug. There are some very good cut off spots with Hulk trying to get back in the game but Gang would get him with a knee or a big clothesline. Hulk kicks out of a big splash and does his thing but the crowd is off the charts and really makes the finish way better. Also, Slick takes a wild bump to the floor post-match. I thought this was an extremely fun and a very good match. LOW END NOMINATION
July 7, 201213 yr comment_5509490 I can't wait for Will to watch this as the announce team includes Mike McGuirk and Duke and may be the worst announcing I've ever heard. I say that without a hint of hyperbole. I enjoyed Gang in this but thought this illustrated the best and worst of Hogan. On the one hand the cut off spots were really good here and something you don't usually think of in a Hogan match. There was a real heat section and it worked. On the other hand Hogan Hulks Up right after the big splash which felt really "eh" particularly in a match where he had been selling so much. Over all this was pretty good and I can see it as a low end nomination, but I don't think this would be an upper half match on many - if any - ballots.
July 8, 201213 yr comment_5509608 I thought this was good for a Hogan match, but not great for a Hogan match. Liked OMG a lot in it, and Slicks bumps was nuts. The Hulking up bugged me. If we find a better version, I could see that on, but otherwise I second it.
June 4Jun 4 comment_6030714 Hulk Hogan vs. One Man Gang (Houston 8/28/87) Hot crowd. Gang overpowers Hogan to start. Hulk isn’t sure what to do. Hogan goes for a slam early & that proves to be a mistake as Gang’s weight collapses him for a near fall. Gang does well on the cut off such as moving out of the way on a Hogan elbow drop & hitting a nice clothesline later on. There’s just a little too much applying holds for my liking though. First, there’s a nerve hold. Then later, a bear hug. Gang hits his big splash for a near fall & then Hogan Hulks up. The crowd eats it up & Hogan retains after the leg drop. Slick eats a punch & takes a tremendous bump off a toss to the floor after the match. Hogan swims in the crowd adulation to end. Decent & fun, but lacks the juice I wanted from Gang’s standpoint on offense. I didn't like this as much as I did the first time around. I'd lean towards no on this one.
