Wow, these guys had tremendous chemistry. Harley gets some good stiff shots in to start but Hogan fires back and Harley takes some wild bumps. Harley's heat segment is what really made this match for me. The guys had been going through their regular spots but pretty intensely. Once they got on the floor they stayed there for awhile. Harley connected with his headbutt on the floor this time and rammed Hogan throat first into the guardrail several times. Hogan avoided a piledriver with a backdrop also while on the floor. They barely made it back in for the ten count. There were some really great cut off spots with Hulk desperately fighting out of a sleeper and at one point clotheslining Harley who took a wild bump off of it. Still, Hulk can't gain the advantage and eventually Harley bloodies him with nasty headbutts and Hulk is bleeding like a stuck pig. Harley goes for his top rope headbutt but Hulk moves and rolls him up for the usual Hulk-Harley finish. Harley attacks the bloody Hulk with his crown after the match. This match really stood out to me as having a long and effective heat segment with blood and great mini-comebacks by Hulk. I think this is a feud that truly got ignored on the first set. These two could fight.

Note: Based on Exposer's description, this thread is the Boston match from 5/2/87. Title needs to be edited

Hulk Hogan vs. Harley Race (Boston 5/2/87)

No Heenan with Race since Heenan was injured by Patera during their debate. Race gets the initial advantage with a knee to the midsection and the crowd almost immediately starts up a Hogan! Hogan! chant in support of the Hulkster. Hogan turns the tide with a corner clothesline and then clotheslines Race over the top rope. Race controls the middle portion after using the tights to throw Hogan through the ropes and catches Hogan coming in. Some solid kneedrops by Race. They go outside and Race hits a diving headbutt, breaks the count and then rolls back outside to ram Hogan a couple of times into the barricade. A piledriver on the floor attempt is reversed by Hogan. Both men are staggered but make it back to the ring. Hogan block a punch and gets several punches on Race and then hits a slam. Hogan misses and elbowdrop, with Race then locking in a chinlock that Hogan tries to fight out of with the crowd firmly behind him. Hogan fades then makes a comeback. Race goes down via an axe bomber but manages to cut off Hogan soon after with a headbutt.  Several headbutts follow, with Hogan busted open. The match ends soon after as Race misses a diving headbutt and Hogan inside cradles him off the miss for the three count. Some post match posturing leads to Race go up the aisle wearing his crowd. Hogan dismissively waves him off and poses for the crowd (complete with bloody visage). Race runs back to the ring and hits Hogan fro behind with the crown (those shots looked a bit awkward). Hogan is left laid out with blood on the mat. Hogan has to be helped out of the ring as he is a bloody mess (even part of his yellow tights has turned red).

The video also has a promo afterward with Hogan challenging Race to a no rules match (which ends up being the following month’s Texas Death Match).

Strong nomination on its own,  but need to compare to the other Hogan vs Race matches this month to see if they are similar and which one is preferred if they are similar.

This is awesome. The Boston crowd eats everything up. Harley takes some big bumps as usual. What I really love is how violent his offense is. The headbutts are insane. Hogan's blade job is immaculate. He gushes everywhere & the mat is covered in puddles by the post-match. I really liked how Hogan escaped with a victory on the finish. The post-match is tremendous with great heat. Hogan is AMAZING selling this. GREAT promo after too where Hogan says some typical insane shit while also being more focused than usual. This definitely holds up.

EASY NOMINATION

Hulk Hogan vs. Harley Race (Boston 5/2/87)

Harley knows where his money is coming from. He sells like a mother fucker and bumps like Terry Funk for Hogan. The headbutt drawing blood was SICK. Harley missing the top rope headbutt and Hogan surviving the match was a great finish. EASY NOMINATION. Fuuuuckkk… I was not expecting that post-match beatdown and bloodletting. SLAM DUNK NOMINATION.
