I think this is actually the first match of the feud because it's only six days after The Islanders attacked Tito. Tito and Martel are pretty pissed and shit gets started quick with them brawling with The Islanders then tossing them around. Tama is a tremendous bumper and takes some absurd bumps at times as he does in this match. Eventually, Tito gets worked over on his shoulder. There are some great cut off spots in this. Tama does a really impactful looking top rope chop to Tito's shoulder. The spot of the match was Haku giving a stiff ass crescent kick to Tito's face and the crowd reacts with a huge "OOOHHHHH." Haku misses a standing somersault and Martel gets the hot tag. He cleans house and the heels bump wildly for him. However, after some cheating Martel ends up in a FIP segment for a few minutes. As he makes his comeback and is ready to make the tag, Haku comes in and headbutts him then rolls Tama out of the ring and covers Martel for the win even though he was the illegal man. These two teams can fucking go and really have the tag style down.
July 11, 201213 yr comment_5509890 We aren't going to want 10 matches between these teams on the set, so we are going to want to do some culling, but this was great shit. I loved the early Tama bump and Haku's asskicking. Strike Force are a great babyface tag team too. Like the back and forth ending a fair amount some twists and turns. Feels like a set pick for sure, with the caveat that if there are 3 or 4 better matches from these teams it could end up cut
October 1, 201410 yr comment_5630459 This is a high end nomination. This was go go go and it was awesome. With all the action they tell a great story. All 4 guys leave it out there. Might be the best tag feud the company produced in the 80's.
June 3Jun 3 comment_6030694 Islanders vs. Strike Force (MSG 9/21/87) Strike Force are really fired up. Nice stiff shots in between control. I love Martel coming and just leveling Haku on the apron. Damn, the crowd is into every near fall. Great spot as Haku chops Tito in the abs and as the ref is distracted, Tama comes off the top to allow them to take control. Big “Tito” chant from the crowd. The Islanders are pretty vicious on offense. Ref doesn’t see the tag but Martel clocks Haku anyway before going back to his corner. Damn, Haku’s thrust kick took the wind out of the entire Garden. Haku misses a senton and Tito gets the hot tag and the crowd explodes. Haku breaks up a roll up and just stiffs Martel in the face with an ax bomber. Martel is in trouble but dodges a big Tama splash. Haku headbutt with the wrong guy pinning gets the win. STRONG NOMINATION.
