Funk is a riot right out of the gate jawing with fans, throwing his ring attire everywhere, and getting in a humorous scuffle with Monsoon. Hulk's music hits and the Maple Leaf Gardens explodes. Terry bumps hilariously and absurdly for Hulk in the ropes and does a semi-Buddy bump into the announcer's table and monitors. Terry chops the hell out of Hulk. He unravels his wrist tape and uses it as a choking device then gives Hulk a nice Funk piledriver. They brawl a little bit on the ramp way and Hogan Hulk's up and gives Terry a running body slam back into the ring in a great spot. Terry reverses a suplex back inside the ring into a crossbody for a nearfall but Hulk's foot is on the rope. Terry thinks he's won and Jimmy tries to hit Hulk with a boot. Hulk takes it from him and nails the shit out of Terry with the boot for the win. This was a total blast and the crowd was apeshit. It had comedy, violence, and great heat. Edit: After thinking about it I think this is an easy nomination.
August 4, 201213 yr comment_5511867 This was a blast and more great Hogan. Funk's comedy shtick in the beginning was acceptable but I loved when Funk took over. I wished there was more choking in wrestling. I want to watch all of the Hulk-Funk matches before deciding which one goes on but this was pretty fucking great down to the finish with Hogan getting the pin with Jimmy Hart's cowboy boot. EASY NOMINATION
June 23Jun 23 comment_6031700 NEW ME: I am taking away my nomination from 13 years ago because Philly was better. This is going back to the Match Discussion. OK, this has the same template as the Philly match. Funk turns the tide here with a trick knee. He cuts out a lot of the gaga I loved in the last match. HE does have the sweet punches on the ground though and the fighting on the ramp here. The finish is the exact same. We lose the sleeper, the tape, the rope running. This is a cliff’s notes version of the Philly match and I choose that one for sure. This one also doesn’t have the wild post-match. No nomination.
