Apparently, Mocho Cota was the king of Sonora at this point, because all of his stuff there is amazing. This is also a really strong showing for Kung Fu and Kato Kung Lee. Their shtick can grate on me at times, getting a little too cutesy and Chikara-ish, but they are note perfect here, and they have some spectacular exchanges with the rudos. Cota doing the crane pose only for Kung Fu to grab him by the foot and throw him backwards was awesome. Reyes seems to be the recent recipient of a head shaving, and he's pissed at Cota over it. Things get pretty heated between him and the rudos when a weird error with the tape occurs, and we basically lose a minute of the match as a result. Not a huge loss, but kinda annoying. The rudos are great stooging for the technicos in the first two falls, but when they take over and tie things up, shit starts to get real. They continue to lay waste to them after taking the fall, with Kung Fu getting posted and Kung Lee getting repeatedly kneedropped by Plata, which looked really vicious. That carries over into the final fall, which is a straight-up war with a ton of great luchariffic brawling. Bonus points for the martial artists working their shtick in while maintaining the feel of reckless violence. With the fall being as hot as it is, the DQ finish after Kung Fu gets unmasked feels awfully flat. Between that, the missing minute, and a few dopey moments like Cimarron Negro taking a forward flip bump after Kato Kung Lee dodges his punch, the match is definitely flawed. But I think it's strong points are strong enough to merit a low-end nomination.
