This is from MSG but is on a PTW show. Really awesome Funk carry job as he leads McGhee through a really simple, but effective match that ends up building to a surprisingly hot finishing run. Lots of payback spots, a tremendous Funk punching combo, a sweet crawling headbutt spot, et. This all builds to a teased McGhee comeback before he gets choked out by Funk with a towel. Funk ends up hitting a top rope sunset flip, but Scott roles through. McGhee ends up losing after doing a dive right into Funk's knee. I am biased because Funk v. randoms is pretty much my favorite kind of match imaginable, but I can't see anyone thinking this was less than good.

TERRY FUNK vs SCOTT MCGHEE (01/27/1986; WWF MSG; New York, NY; 00:12:24)

-          This picked up when McGhee fired back with chops on the ropes and Funk did his rubber ball selling. Funk is more methodical in this McGhee match than the other one where he got right down to business. He is giving a lot of time to McGhee’s offense. I love the Terry Funk performance but McGhee is so non-descript that I never felt the groundswell for him that was given to Sal Bellomo against Orndorff or Rick McGraw against Slaughter during the meat of the match. I loved McGhee using the rope to choke Funk after Funk did it to him. Great finish when the crowd got behind Scott with the sunset flip reversal, the back suplex battle and McGhee hitting Funk’s knee on the big splash/headbutt. I enjoyed this but can give it a LOW-LEVEL NOMINATION.
