Posted July 20, 201213 yr comment_5510621 This fucking ruled. Bass and Rogers bumped like goddamn kings to EVERYTHING from the Bulldogs. Davey Boy is in peril in this for a little while and Bass puts in a nerve hold but makes it as interesting as possible by shaking his body while applying it. Bass was amusing in this trying to save Rogers at one point and stomping him instead. Refusing to tag Rogers after Rogers had done the same to him earlier in the match. Rogers and DK battle it out on the famed Toronto ramp. DK attempts a pile driver but gets back dropped on the ramp instead. The finishing run to this is awesome with Bass taking an INSANE bump off a missed flying head butt. Bass and Rogers bump like total idiots some more for the Bulldogs and Davey Boy puts Rogers on his shoulders which DK used as a stepping stone to hit an absolutely massive and brutal looking flying head butt to Bass for the win. Davey Boy drops Rogers from his shoulders onto the prone body of Bass after the match to the crowd's delight. This was incredibly fun and a tremendous squash.
July 24, 201213 yr comment_5511038 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxhbJPvqo3U I am biased because I think Bobby Bass is the best wrestler no one has really seen, but I thought this was a borderline solid nomination. The only thing you could really bitch about big time here was the hot tag being very anti-climactic, but other than that I thought this was near perfect for the sort of match they were going for. Bass and Rogers pre-match pageantry was fucking hilarious considering there position on the card and man alive was their bumping great in this. I loved Bass's Wiskowski style, delayed face plant and his selling of the headbutt for a good minute afterward. The bit around neither man wanting to tag in was really well done also. The Bulldogs brought the offense you want out of a Bulldogs match, but we also got a couple of big bumps from Dynamite. The offense from the heels was simple, but I thought it was well done and precisely the sort of low key offense you would expect to "no name" guys to bring to the table. Bass's fucking huge bumps on the missed headbutts down the stretch ruled and the Bulldogs finishing spot always looks cool. Fucking Bobby Bass is the man, RIP Goldie Rogers
July 26, 201213 yr comment_5511218 It felt like Rogers and Bass got enough offense in this to make it a squashy nomination. This is the best kind of Bulldogs match, where they can just do their shit without having to work a complete match. The heels got in some cool shit too, and that missed headbutt was awesome. Fun discovery I think people will enjoy
March 4, 201312 yr comment_5537782 I thought their was a lot of cool stuff in this. The jacket schtick with the heels was great. When Bass goes to tag Rogers and Rogers won't take it was a spot milked to perfection. Bass missed diving headbutt was awesome. The Bulldogs got to showcase their shit. Dynamite got to bust out some European style mat work. The finish was a wow moment. Still this is an extended squash. I don't think a squash should make the set proper. This has extra written all over it. Again this is a great squash, maybe one of the best I have seen. Still I would go no.
June 20Jun 20 comment_6031528 I am overruling shoe. I want Devon and Esteban to weigh in. DYNAMITE KID & DAVEY BOY SMITH vs BOBBY BASS & GOLDIE ROGERS (10/21/1984; WWF Maple Leaf Gardens; 00:13:14) - Dynamite is wearing a shiny red cape. They aren’t even wearing matching gear yet or called the British Bulldogs. I need some more info on Goldie Rogers. Where has he been all my life? He bumps huge for Dynamite dropkicks and quickly tags out. Davey faces off with Bass, gives him a body slam and uses DK’s head as a battering ram. He quickly wants to tag Goldie but Goldie pretends not to see him and not take the tag. Goldie finally tags in and the Bulldogs destroy this dude. He is so out of it, he goes for a tag and ends up in Davey’s corner. Oops. Bass tries to interfere an accidentally stomps on Goldie’s face. This is great! Goldie and Bass actually get on the same page and do a double team move. Bass is killing me with his nerve hold. I actually think the heels are getting too much here. Spike Huber is the blueprint. Goldie goes for a tag but Bass pulls his hand away and wants no smoke. When DK is down, Bass tags in and misses a top rope splash. He begs off from Davey and gets a piledriver for his troubles. All 4 men in. Davey has Goldie on his shoulders and DK hits his top rope headbutt. After the three count, Davey throws Goldie on top of the defeated Bass. This was great. By far, the best squash match after viewing 70% of WWF 80s footage. That should count for something and I am calling this a SPIKE HUBER NECESSARY NOMINATION.
