This is the Boston Garden version of the Texas Death match and is really great. Race does some really crazy bumping including three nutso diving headbutts, one on the floor, one to the floor and one on a belt. Hogan is right there matching Race's pace and looks pretty violent throwing him around, they even do some fun crowd brawling. This feels like another series where we will have multiple matches

This was real fun and fast-paced. Race was so odd in 80s WWF with his bleached blonde curly locks and pasty body making him look like the fat kid from Bad Santa. But both guys looked good here. Phil is right about those nutso diving headbutts. The one from the apron to the floor is just a REALLY incredibly stupid thing to do in a culture full of incredibly stupid things to do. Race takes some nasty spills and I love those Hogan t-shirt clotheslines. Solid nomination.

Hulk Hogan vs. Harley Race (Texas Death Match) (Boston 6/6/87)

The fans grabbing Harley’s robe in the aisleway make for a great scene to start. Harley is pissed. The opening minutes are fucking AWESOME with Harley stooging & bumping like the lunatic that he is. The chair shots in particular are nuts. Harley getting in control with a low blow is great. Race has a lot of time on offense & hits a plethora of nasty knees. I love his piledriver. Good gut wrench too. I don’t like Hogan shaking so much of Harley’s offense off after he counters the suplex. Harley takes his 360 clothesline bump & they’re back on the floor. Race attacking Hogan with the entrance apron is tremendous. The headbutt off the apron connects! The finish is AMAZING with Hogan blocking the top rope headbutt with the WWF Title belt & clocking Harley a second time in the head off the ropes for the three. Harley bleeds at the end, but we don’t get a great shot of it. This lacked Hogan bleeding a gusher, but otherwise this is pretty awesome.

EASY NOMINATION

WOW! The elevation on Harley getting tossed in the first 5 seconds is nuts. Hogan choking Harley while slinging him into the rail is awesome. The one criticism is Harley should’ve been bleeding after Hogan bit him, Memphis punched him and slammed him on the announce table. Awesome opening. Harley on offense has been awesome… and we get the Hogan piledriver counter. Hogan’s choking shirt clotheslines were vicious. Hogan goes after Heenan in this one and allows Harley back in to it. Harley hit the apron to floor headbutt… THAT WAS NUTS (but a little wonky). Harley misses the headbutt and I thought that was the end but Hogan grabs the title belt and nails Harley for the three. Great match… EASY NOMINATION IF the MSG match is not similar and doesn’t outshine this one.

I agree that this is strong to easy nomination with the lack of blood not being a demerit but a bit dispapointing considering the color Hogan got the previous month. Some memorable stuff here with Harley hitting that apron headbutt (I was expecting him to miss),  Hogan being vicious in going after Harley in the first minutes, and the fight by the entrance curtain. Great finish as well. Let's see how the MSG match stacks up.
