Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage (WrestleMania III; 3/29/87)
-    Recap of the feud / Macho Man Promo / Ricky Steamboat Interview. 
-    George Steele is in the corner. They are tentative to start. You could argue that in a blood feud it should be more violent but they have already had violent matches around the horn. This is the biggest stage and the belt is the most important goal here (as pointed out by Gorilla). Steamboat controls the arm, using his wrist lock, arm wringer and yanking the arm across the ropes. Savage favors his arm but still able to whip Ricky over the turnbuckle and into the floor in a Slaughter like bump. Savage in control for some near falls but only two counts. Savage gets tied in the ropes allowing Steamboat to karate chop his face. Half a dozen Irish whips and arm drags and moves to near falls. They do the skin the cat/clothesline spot. WOW! I don’t remember Savage giving Ricky a knee that sends him over the table, past the railing and into the crowd. Damn. Steele helps Ricky inside but Savage throws him out right away. Top rope super axe handle. More near falls and two counts. The same back body drop that Steamboat used in the first match sends Macho to the floor. A flying karate chop gets two with the leg on the ropes. By this point, the crowd realizes this is a special moment in time. More near falls: sunset flip, school boy, small package. At this point, Jesse says it is one of the greatest matches he has ever seen.   A slingshot sends Savage to the ring post but Ricky gets a two count for the fall. More near falls. They want the title but cannot keep the other man down. Ref bump when Ricky whipped into the ref. Macho goes to the top and hits the elbow. He takes the bell to put Ricky out again but Steele steals the bell but Savage gets it back. Steele pushes Savage off the top rope. Steamboat counters a slam with a roll up for three. Still an amazing moment. Still exhilarating. Still gives me chills. Still a Top five contender. I thought I was going to have diminishing returns. I was forced to watch it fresh and it’s incredible with Savage and Liz in agony, fading away on their little cart. SLAM DUNK NOMINATION + TOP 5 CONTENDER.
