Greg Valentine vs Ricky Steamboat (6/21/85 MSG)

I'd give this a low end nomination. The Karate gimmick is the shits. Even with that hindrance they still have a good match. To me the best part of the whole match was when Valentine targeted Steamboat's stomach and leg. The work Valentine did here was simple , but effective. Most importantly it looked like it hurt. Plus it doesn't hurt to have Steamboat sell his ass for it too.

RICKY STEAMBOAT vs GREG VALENTINE (06/21/1985; WWF MSG; New York, NY; 00:18:28)
-    Great start with Ricky blocking Greg’s strikes and shining. Valentine really tentative to start and stalling more than usual. Ricky really displaying his kicks and “karate” offense here. Some great kicks in the corner that drop Hammer on his ass. Hammer fights back in the corner and starts hammering away. Ricky gets a slam and a splash meets knees. As Hammer beats on Steamboat, the crowd is getting restless. Hammer trying to set up the figure 4. Ricky ends up outside and Hammer plays king of the mountain. “I have the higher ground!” Steamer fights back and goes blow for blow. Huge chop brings Hammer to his face. Kung-fu do what you do to me… Steamboat then hits the flying body press but Greg gets his leg on the ropes. The crowd is chanting. Valentine gets some near falls. Figure four attempt. Nope. Ricky hits an ENZIGUIRI and sends Hammer over the top rope. The bell rang out of nowhere but the guys are still battling. They fucked up the ending because Hammer was not out for a ten count. Even the announcers are confused. Still a great match but the ending is bad. SOLID NOMINATION.
