Posted July 26, 201213 yr comment_5511225 Very good and exciting tag. Piper and Orton stooged for Snuka and Tonga with the crowd going insane. Tonga was FIP during this and did a great job. Piper and Orton cut the ring in half and really worked him over. Tonga got a tremendous hope spot off a sunset flip for a near fall. Tonga eventually fought his way through both guys and tagged Snuka. MSG nearly exploded on that tag and Snuka cleaned house. He got two tremendous near falls on Orton in the finishing run. One was after Orton took a flip turnbuckle bump and another was off a high cross body from the top rope that the crowd nearly shit their pants for. Piper broke up the pin both times. All four men wildly brawled for several minutes and the building was fucking shaking. Piper and Orton collided on an attempt to take Tonga out. Snuka and Tonga were sent to the floor but both met together on the floor in a near collision and just looked up the sky and starting screaming and getting fired up. I'm pretty sure MSG was about done for the night by this point. Once again, all four wrestlers brawled with the ref throwing the match out and disqualifying both teams. Snuka and Tonga won the initial battle but Piper and Orton picked the scraps after the match and crotched Snuka on the ropes. Tonga brought a chair in the ring and chased the heels away to end the melee. This was an absolute blast and borderline easy nomination. However, I'm going to give it a solid nomination for now.
August 3, 201213 yr comment_5511819 Sorry Devon, gotta disagree here. Was not excited at all after watching this one. I thought the early stuff with Snuka/Tonga was ok and had hope it would pick up after Piper and Orton started choking the shit out of Kid. Then... it was just there. I started losing interest in the FIP section and the ending was a clusterfuck that the referee and the announcers and I couldn't make sense of. I also thought Piper did some cute shit but then started selling like a clown. No vote.

October 3, 201410 yr comment_5630967 The date is 12/28/84 here. I thought the early shine was done well. It was fun seeing Piper limp arm Orton so he wouldn't have to face Snuka was great. Their were moments in the heat that were awesome like the hammerlock where they were tagging in and out dropping a knee drop on the arm. They get away from it, but the heat is still solid . Tonga wasn't great in the FIP role . He lacked facials here. We get a hot tag to Snuka that leads to a DQ finish. The crowd was hot for this match. I'm giving this a low-end nomination.

RODDY PIPER & BOB ORTON vs JIMMY SNUKA & TONGA KID (12/28/1984; WWF MSG; New York, NY; 00:19:05) - Piper and Orton bail immediately and the crowd is “erupting like a volcano”. The Islanders control early and the crowd cheers for every single bit of offense. Snuka had Orton in an arm bar and Piper was reaching for a short tag so Snuka walked Orton to the corner and let him tag in. Great stuff. The crowd is wild for the Piper-Snuka interaction. They are crazy for Snuka-Orton. Tonga comes back in and he eventually ends up in peril. I thought Piper stayed in the chin lock for a bit too long but that’s a minor complaint. Orton beating up on Tonga brought the crowd down but they erupt when Tonga kicks Tonga on the face. Good hope tease. Tonga goes through the legs and hot tag… damn, this crowd is insane. Great near fall when Snuka hit Orton with a headbutt and I thought Piper was breaking it up but he was intercepted by Tonga. Orton barely kicked out. Snuka counters a suplerplex and hits Orton with a cross body for a near two count. Great moment when Orton goes to the top to double team Tonga but Snuka pushes Orton off and he hits Piper on his way down. All 4 men in the ring after an Islander war cry and the double DQ finally happens. In the post-match, Piper swings, Snuka dodges and Orton gets nailed in the face. Heels retreat and then sneak in and crotch drop Snuka on the ropes. Tonga comes in with a chair and the heels finally bail. What an insane environment and exciting match. STRONG NOMINATION.
