Fabulous Rougeau Bros. vs Rockers (10/10/89 London, England)

This is close but I'm going to have to say no. There was a hot crowd but the stalling and heel in peril was too long but also uninteresting. It was all based around an ankle twist which is terribly uninteresting. The opening showdown between Jacques and both Rockers was entertaining but the Rockers did that segment better against Rose and Sommers. Shawn is a good FIP and did well here but I wasn't invested into it till the very end. By that time Marty gets the tag, cleans house, and we get an average finish with Shawn hitting Jacques with Jimmy Hart's megaphone. Overall, good in spurts and totally uninteresting in other parts.

I haven't watched this in a while, but my initial take away from this was that it was really overrated. Maybe I am spoiled from watching the Montreal footage, but something has always struck me as "off" with the Rougeau's and I think it's the fact that they were far better faces than heels. I am not saying they were bad heels, because Jacques in particular is very hateable. But Jacques is also the lesser worker of the two (easily). There heel act just seems really forced to me and not in the over the top way that you want a campy heel act to be. I wouldn't say this shouldn't be on a re-do, but this isn't even close to a high end Rockers match and it's not in the top tier of Rougeau's matches either

I love the London stairs and walkway to the ring. It all looks cool esp. for 1989.

All the gaga and funny stuff at the beginning was absolutely necessary and helped establish the Rougeaus gimmick. I loved it all.

I was WAY off 12 years ago. This is awesome. The opening shtick is INCREDIBLE. Jacques Rougeau is outstanding stooging. I love the moonsault deal that ends in him getting crotched. GREAT heat on Shawn. Awesome tag work & heeling from the Rougeaus. Great double team offense & ref distraction stuff. Marty gets a hot tag & then takes an awesome piledriver from Jacques. GREAT finish with the Rougeaus hubris backfiring & the Rockers using the megaphone for the win. 

EASY NOMINATION 

This is going to be a polarizing match, you'll either be into the schtick that happens in the first ten minutes or so, or yoú will hate it. I really enjoyed the first part of the match and then what follows is pretty great too. Shawn's face in peril section is the highlight here and I love th finsih with the Rogeaus trying to cheat just because (they were great throughout) and it coming back to bite them in the butt. Easy nomination.
