VQ - Okay (Low Audio)

Mean Gene interviewed Bobby Heenan, Big John Studd, and Ken Patera for their match against Andre and JYD. Heenan was great and introduced his "giants" Studd and Patera. Studd was eh but Patera ruled. Gene then interviewed Blackjack Mulligan on his match against David Schultz. He said it was going to be a big southern fight. Pretty good promo. Okerlund then ran down the full card at the Boston Garden and interviewed JYD. JYD was amusing wishing his "homies" Happy Holidays or something. He then said he was going to pick the bones after Andre gets done with Studd and Patera. At least I think he said that. Some random guy interviewed JYD in a second interview and JYD said his plan was to "beat on the garbage and pick on the bone." Tremendous. The random guy, who may be local, ran down the card and then Greg Valentine cut a good promo on his match with Tito Santana coming up in the Boston Garden. Heenan is back for another interview with only Patera. Both guys cut great promos on the big tag match with Andre and JYD. Tito showed up for an interview and was not that great. Mean Gene is now interviewing Tito. Tito talks about overcoming his injury caused by Valentine. Now Blackjack Mulligan is back for another interview conducted by Gene. Blackjack Mulligan discussed Heenan, Studd, and Patera. He told them to leave the country or something. I was confused. Okerlund ran down the card again and interviewd Blackjack Mulligan for a third damn time. Mulligan rambles about his match with Schultz being a huge fight and says something about Abilene, Texas. Bizarre and random.

We have a Piper's Pit now. This was funny. Piper had Heenan, Studd, and Patera as guests. Ace was in the background milling about. They all made fun of Andre and Piper played around with his hair. Mean Gene interviews Adrian Adonis about the North/South-Briscos tag title match. He cut a pretty good promo. Gene interviewed JYD again. JYD said everything was going to be alright and was excited about his big match and the whole card.

1. Adrian Adonis/Dick Murdoch vs. The Brisco Brothers (WWF Tag Title)

Tremendous match. This was far better than their MSG match. I can comfortably say this is a match I could see in someone's top 25. The heat segment was phenomenal in this. If North/South wrestled all of their matches like this they'd be one of the greatest short-lived tag teams for sure. Jack and Murdoch started off the match. Murdoch stooged for Jack and Jack did his step over into a figure four spot again which I love. Adrian and I think Jerry had some cool exchanges. Then they went to the floor where Adrian got whipped THROUGH the Boston Garden barricade. It was an absolutely ludicrous bump. Murdoch and Jack got back in again and The Briscos worked on Murdoch's arm. It was basically a Heel in Peril segment but it transitioned into an excellent and long FIP segment. Jack, I believe, was FIP. It's hard to tell the Briscos apart on a handheld. There were some really great hope spots in this. Jack got Adrian into a figure four but Murdoch reached his hand out and dragged Adrian by the hand to the ropes and tagged to stomp on Jack. That was awesome. Jerry kept trying to save Jack and fight with Adrian on the floor. So Adrian fucking CROTCHED Jerry on the barricade. That fucking ruled. Jack was left alone to fend for himself and eventually Jerry recovered back to the apron for the hot tag. However, once Jack tagged Jerry, Adrian and Murdoch immediately pummeled and savagely beat Jerry before he could even get in the ring. There were some tremendous near falls that followed afterwards with Jerry kicking out of the cattle pranting and brain buster. Jerry survived the onslaught and made the hot tag to Jack. Adrian took an absurd but awesome bump on the turnbuckle chest first as he was trying a high risk move and took a nasty fall to the mat. The finish is fucking great. Jack gets Murdoch in the figure four and The Briscos are about to win but the referee is distracted by Jerry who sees Adrian bring a wooden chair in the ring. Adrian fucking hits Jack in the leg mid-figure four with the chair's jagged end and Murdoch covers Jack for the win as Jerry almost makes the desperation save. This was a legitimately tremendous match. Extremely easy nomination. This is one of the best WWF tags of the 80s. Will and Phil, I think y'all are going to like this.

2. Greg Valentine vs. Tito Santana (WWF IC Title)

Incredible match. This was a fucking WAR. Both guys just beat the living shit out of each other. Tito opened the match with extremely violent forearms and rammed The Hammer's head into the turnbuckle followed by a face plant bump by Valentine. There was some really great but basic mat work with pin attempts throughout the match. Valentine took a tremendous bump to the floor through the bottom rope. Eventually, The Hammer worked on Tito's leg. This ruled big time. There was one spot where he put all of his weight on Tito's bad leg and attempted a pin. That was fucking awesome. Tito got a nice comeback and was dragging his leg and selling everything tremendously. Valentine got atomic dropped and he took a really great front first bump into a turnbuckle. Tito then worked on Greg's leg a little bit and even attempted his own figure four which was cool. Then the violence kicked in. These motherfuckers started laying waste to one another. There was one spot where Greg was just viciously assaulting Tito in the face with all kinds of violent strikes. Tito wouldn't go down so The Hammer just headbutted the living shit out of him to knock him down. I mean it was one of the sickest headbutts I've ever seen. The finish to this was fucking tremendous. Valentine whipped Tito into the ropes for a big move but Tito knocked him the fuck out with an unbelievably violent flying forearm to the face unprotected which caused The Hammer to take an insane bump through the ropes and to the floor. Valentine almost got back in the ring but couldn't quite beat the ten count. Tito won by count-out but there was no title change. This is probably a top 5 and definitely top 10 contender. I mean this was a fucking violent affair. It's quite possibly the best match I've ever seen from both guys careers. Really, really fucking easy nomination.

3. Blackjack Mulligan vs. David Schultz

Fun squash. Mulligan and Schultz brawled for a minute then Mulligan gave Schultz a pretty stiff punch. Mulligan kicked him in the lower abdomen then gave him a really great flying elbow for the finish and quick win. This wasn't bad for an extremely fast squash and had a really good finish.

4. Big John Studd/Ken Patera vs. Andre The Giant/The Junk Yard Dog

Very fun match that had some great stuff in it. The crowd is totally batshit throughout the entire match. I think this is Andre's return match as it was pimped that way in the interviews on this disc. Andre and JYD clean house to start with Andre viciously chopping Studd and Andre is rubbing his head and pointing at Studd and Patera in anger as they stall on the floor. He was referencing the angle where the cut his hair. The next several minutes were really fun with Andre manhandling both heels aggressively. He awesomely and violently choked Patera with his singlet. JYD torpedoed him into both Studd and Patera who were in the their corner which is a spot I love. JYD eventually took the FIP and role and did a pretty good job. Patera got a good near fall off of a nice suplex. JYD played FIP on the floor a little bit after getting his head smashed into a ring post. JYD never made the tag but Andre got fed up and tried to come in the take out the heels. Instead, in a great spot, Studd and Patera both went after Andre and their was a really awesome three way slugfest in Andre's corner. Andre eventually won the battle and he and JYD brawled with Studd and Patera in the ring. Heenan climbed to the top rope but Andre caught him and threw him onto both Studd and Patera. For some reason Andre got disqualified but I don't know why which made this match have a disappointing finish. I read that he got disqualified in a later tag by using scissors but I couldn't tell if he had anything in his hand or not. That would be cool if that was the reason for the finish though. Anyways, Andre tossed Heenan to the floor which Heenan bumped greatly for. Then Andre and JYD got rid of Studd and Patera. Andre got on the mic and yelled some gibberish at the heels but it was still awesome. The way he threw the microphone down was tremendous. This match was a hell of a blast and ended up being very good at times. I'll give it a low end nomination.

Final Analysis

Tremendously great show. This has been the find of the set so far. Two extraordinary matches that are legitimate top contenders and another extremely fun match surrounded in a hot angle were on it. Yeah, this show fucking ruled.
