Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat (7/27/86 Toronto, Ontario)

This is an easy nomination. This was worked differently than when they were working a program together. You see Steamer work the arm and spots around it. Savage took some sneaky chapshots. He also worked the back in spots. Savage gets posted and is bleeding big time. Savage cheats and has blinded Steamer. Steamer wins by CO and it actually works well.

RANDY SAVAGE vs RICKY STEAMBOAT (07/27/1986; WWF Maple Leaf Gardens; 00:16:19)
-    This is the first matchup we have between the two and this is not the blood feud it would evolve into. Dragon controlling early in and out of the arm bar with is patented arm drags. Great moment where Savage does a flying cross body but Dragon reverses the pin for a near count. Steamer backs Savage into the corner, gets a victory roll for a near count and then right back to the arm drag into the arm bar. Damn, that was smooth. Even when Savage gets control, he sells the arm. Later in the match, Dragon gets caught on the top rope after an Irish whip so Savage dumps him to the concrete. As Steamer gets back in the ring, Savage attacks him from behind running down the Toronto ramp. This is followed by the axe handle but Ricky kicks out! Macho goes to the top again but Steamer hits him on the way down. They fight on the floor and Ricky tosses Savage over the guard railing. Wo, after being ran into the post, Savage is now busted open. Ricky hits his top rope karate chop for two. The crowd is wild. In an act of desperation, Savage noggin knocks the ref with Steamboat and all three men are down. The crowd is chanting for Steamboat. As they get up, Steamboat gets a small package and the ref slowly counts to…two. The crowd is so invested in every move. They battle for a backslide and the crowd is going nuts. Savage gets a foreign object and rakes Ricky’s eyes. Savage charges Ricky who is near the ropes and gets back dropped all the way over the rope and to the floor. They brawl on the floor and Steamboat beats the ten count. This was amazing. Maybe my favorite match between the two but it needed a better finish. SLAM DUNK NOMINATION.
