Patterson wearing the I Love NY shirt with a Yankees hat and cowboy boots was a nice touch. This is a legendary match because you didn't see street fight matches like this in WWF and of course you had a extremely hot angle to build it up and a tremendous crowd at the Garden who went nuts for everything involved. The action itself was really strong as both men just beat the piss out of each other and taking wild bumps which these two were famous for. Slaughter tapping a gusher and Patterson going nuts attacking the cut was awesome before Wizard ran out to save him by throwing in the towel was a great finish. This may not be as great as some people say it is but still it's a tremendous match and a slam dunk nomination.

Totally agree on the nomination. Historic too.

-    Patterson on the attack. Damn, he just stomped on his face with the cowboy boot. The crowd reacts wildly each time Pat whips Sarge… and when he is choking him with the belt. Sarge flips Pat over the rope to save himself. Back in the ring and more whipping. Fuck, he whipped Sarge in the face. Sarge gets the belt and clotheslines Pat with it. Sarge with the belt across Pat’s mouth is a great visual. Huge “Gomer” chant! The bastard ripped off Pat’s I Love NY t-shirt. Sarge to the outside but misses a Bombs Away. Patterson hits his Bombs Away! And another one! Patterson starts biting Sarge. Slingshot to the ring post and Sarge is gushing blood. Sarge has a huge bloody target on his head. Sarge has brass knux and hits Pat upside the head. Sarge can’t hit him again. Pat keeps blocking him and Sarge gets rammed into the ring post again. Pat takes off the boot and knocks Slaughter with the boot over and over again. The Grand Wizard throws in the towel. I’ve seen this match a lot. I love it more than I did long ago. SLAM DUNK. LEGENDARY. SICK FUCKING WORLD. Should have placed much higher.
