Posted July 28, 201213 yr comment_5511426 VQ - Awful to Okay (Low Audio) 1. Don Muraco vs. Bret Hart Pretty good match. Muraco gets the best of Bret to start but soon enough Bret gets in a nice dropkick followed by a body slam and leg drop. Bret slows things down with a side headlock take down and gets a near fall off of a roll up. Muraco regains control after landing his own dropkick and starts to work Bret over. Muraco's not too compelling on offense here but he seems to be working hard. Bret reverses a suplex attempt by Muraco into his own and moves out of the way of an elbow drop to set up his comeback. Bret gets in another good dropkick and then some before getting caught mid-run into a power slam by Muraco. Muraco gets the pin and victory afterwards. This was a good match with Bret selling well to Muraco's offense and Muraco working harder than usual during this time period. 2. The U.S. Express vs. The Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff (WWF Tag Title) Volkoff does his usual pre-match heat which always rules. This was quite good actually. They actually did triple FIP in this match. Sheik and Windham reversed full nelsons to start the match. Sheik and Volkoff then stooged and bumped for Windham and Rotundo for several minutes. Windham got back body dropped by Sheik during an offensive flurry which started the first heat segment. Sheik spat on Barry which was great then he and Volkoff worked him over. This wasn't a very good heat segment at all. Volkoff was the main aggressor and didn't do much to enhance the match. Barry got the hot tag to Rotundo and the match began to get much better. Rotundo was isolated pretty well and the heels worked on his back with a bear hug. Rotundo got a good comeback going but tripped over Sheik's back on a rope running spot and took a ludicrous bump to the floor. Rotundo continues to get worked over until he makes the hot tag to Barry. Barry throws some great punches on Volkoff then goes for a bulldog but Sheik tremendously kicks him in mid-leap right in the stomach to set up a third heat segment. Barry gets worked over briefly and Sheik puts the Camel Clutch on him but Rotundo makes the save and pounds on Sheik. Volkoff comes in and distracts the referee just as Sheik gets Windham in a small package. Rotundo reverses the small package to have Barry on top and the faces retain their belts. This started out okay, had some bad for a few minutes, then got really good in the second half. I'm generous enough to give this a low end nomination as I thought the second half was very, very good and the beginning was good as well. 3. The Junk Yard Dog vs. Bob Orton Jr. JIP. Orton is begging off when we get here. JYD plays along with it until it goes after Orton finally. Nothing of importance really happens for awhile in this. JYD does his signature headbutts which sends Orton to the floor. Orton's heat segment begins with a tremendous punch that floors JYD. He then locks in a key lock or something and struts around. The VQ in this match is terrible as it jumps back and forth from the previous match and later matches. At one point the screen is just white noise and nothing more. We get back to the match and Orton is still in control and applying an abdominal stretch until JYD reverses it. The match cuts off again and goes to the intros to Piper-Snuka. 4. Roddy Piper vs. Jimmy Snuka Good match. Piper gets after Snuka at the start and takes control quickly. He hits Snuka with a chair on the floor and pounds on him for a few minutes. Snuka no sells a few punches then makes a comeback. Snuka is on offense for the rest of this match which I didn't like. It goes too long without any transitioning. Snuka beats up Piper with a wooden chair and Piper stooges and bumps for Snuka big time. Snuka gets some good near falls including a great one at the finish with a top rope cross body until Bob Orton Jr. comes in to save Piper by nailing Snuka with his cast. Snuka rolls out of the ring and recovers then brings in a wooden chair to chase off Piper and Orton. This was a pretty good brawl but too much of the match was given to Snuka. 5. Jimmy Snuka vs. Don Muraco We've already got this on the Hartford show. It's the same match and gets cut off around the same time too. Final Analysis Disappointing show even though we have a nomination. The last Boston show totally destroys this one. The video quality in this was distracting a lot of the time too which didn't help. Ultimately, this show had a lot to be desired.
