November 8, 201212 yr comment_5519355 Going back to Rey, I think he's top 30 for sure and most likely top 20. The thing is, I don't think he was particularly great in AAA or WCW, and his WWE run isn't really enough to vault him into GOAT contender status. And he suffers by comparison to Eddy Guerrero, who was as good or better than Rey at Rey's strengths and brought plenty more to the table besides.

Maybe Benoit has a run like that in WCW. It's also fun to watch Rey try to get back into form starting at Superbrawl Revenge and basically be back at mid 1999 level by the last Nitro ever. Never thought that would happen after watching him get away with having to do nothing but a broncobuster during all of his Russo era matches. I agree about the AAA run not being great but whose AAA run was really all that great anyway. Plus, in the grand scheme of things, AAA is 1992-1996 and WCW was 1996 -2001. AAA was the shortest of the big three promotions he worked in. I probably don't have him above Eddy but he is in my top 10 as of this moment.
November 9, 201212 yr comment_5519420 You could convince me that Eddy was better at his best and he was more versatile. But there are patches of Eddy's career where he was sort of lost or middling to me. Rey is more consistent and has continued to tack on great years after Eddy's death.
