November 2, 201212 yr Author comment_5518524 Bill Dundee music video to "Gypsies on Parade" by Sawyer Brown. There are some great old clips included in this.
November 3, 201212 yr comment_5518731 Isn't this on the Memphis set? Still one of my favorite music videos ever. Especially when Dundee and the locals act out the lyrics.
November 5, 201212 yr comment_5518978 Literal interpretations of song lyrics are usually a bad idea for any music video, wrestling or otherwise, but they make it work here. Does that Dundee/Bockwinkel exist in full or nearly full?
November 13, 201212 yr comment_5519855 I like Dundee driving down the road with his blinker on. Enjoyed this one with Dundee acting out the lyrics of the song. Jimmy Hart with the Moondogs. They sure go deep into the archives in USWA.
November 13, 201212 yr comment_5519950 Really reached into the vault for this one. Kind of strange song choice also and I couldnt dig it as much as other music videos for it being a generally great video or for the lack of unintentional comedy aspect.
November 29, 201212 yr comment_5521155 It's not as fast paced and clip heavy as you'd expect out of a Memphis wrestling music video but it's very effective, perhaps because it is so different. Really gives Dundee a working class vibe that probably worked well in both Memphis and Dallas.
February 1, 201312 yr comment_5532363 I downloaded the song after this. I'm not sure if I like it but have a hard time getting it out my head! I really liked the video with the goofy acting out of the lyrics.
June 9, 201312 yr comment_5547230 Kind of a weird song choice and choice of clips for a wrestling video. Most of this was Dundee driving in a car, talking on a payphone, and drinking coffee.
September 13, 201312 yr comment_5562276 I love that wooden pannelling in that diner. Reminds a bit of the place from Blood Simple. I imagine Dundee is calling Australia on that phone. The JvK Cheese-o-meter is maxing out here, on about a 9.2.
December 9, 201410 yr comment_5644435 Sort of poignant for a wrestling music video. Most videos of this type are up-tempo, with lots of action and smiling. This works, though, because it presents Dundee as a down-to-earth guy, unlike Lawler and his crowd. Impressive use of archival footage as well; I was pleasantly surprised to see Jimmy Hart and the Moondogs as part of a USWA video in 1990. Pity that they cut it off in the middle, coincidentally (I think) right after the lyrics "We pulled out of Charlotte.........", which was still WCW territory.
November 20, 20159 yr comment_5710931 The quick cut to the car driving on a wet street between clips really cracked me up for some reason. The USWA music video strikes again. This is kind of bizarre and feels like Bill Dundee has died.
December 5, 20168 yr comment_5777695 A Bill Dundee music video set to Gypsies on Parade by Sawyer Brown. How old is this? The footage is from the 70s up to 1983/4, as there are clips of Dundee against Phil Hickerson, Nick Bockwinkel and getting beaten up by the Moondogs in the studio. Different pace to this as you see Dundee driving down the highway, alone in a diner and using a payphone. Doesnt give the image that being a wrestler and life on the road is a glamorous one. It's almost as though he's retiring and this is goodbye.
February 5, 20178 yr comment_5787198 I was pretty impressed by this. Cheese is expected in your wrestling music videos, so that didn't throw me. Dundee as the working-class, blue collar guy is the right play and definitely gets across here.
