Really good segment. Flair and Woman are *again* guests on the Louisville Slugger. They are talking trash about Luger, which brings him out to object. Flair tells him he'll kick his ass and Luger gets in some shots on him and Ole, but Arn Anderson returns, hitting Lex with his shoe. The Horsemen triple team Luger for a few minutes until other babyfaces finally make the save.

Woman is a paragon of sartorial pulchritude! The Midnight Express-as-Horsemen tease has apparently evaporated already. Great, heated segment with Luger coming off like a million-dollar star. Luger temporarily fights off Flair and an interfering Ole Anderson before Woman's high-heel shoe is used for possibly the first (but oh most definitely not the last) time. Arn, Ole, and Flair have enough time before the cavalry comes to leave Luger laying.

This was better as Woman did what she did best at this time, be flirtatious and look awesome. Flair was able to cut a condensed promo until Luger came out to a great reaction. The beatdown was some classic horseman stuff and no one kicks someone when they are down better than Arn Anderson.

Just a strong segment. I love how Flair doesn't seem like a bitch. He's the World champ, and in 1990 so far he is the man.

Luger quickly interrupts an interview with Flair and Woman. Flair smacks Luger in the face and then uses Woman as a shield. Ole hits the ring and Luger fights him off. Irish whip and a press slam for Flair which seems like a bizarre move for this type of altercation. Here’s Arn with Woman’s shoe. Luger left laying.

When will babyfaces learn that you don't jump Ric Flair when the Horsemen are together, because they will always play the numbers game against you? Luger left laying as they start to build towards Capital Combat.

"Hey, did you come out here to ask Ric Flair how to wrestle?"

 

Flair puts Woman in front of him as a human shield as Cornette screams "LUGER IS TRYING TO BEAT UP A WOMAN" Ha ha, awesome.

 

There are few sights in life more satisfying than watching the Horsemen beat the shit of a guy.

 

I've actually liked this 1990 "reunion" lineup a good bit.

Corny starts us off on a weird foot by accidentally referring to "Princess Charles".

 

It's amazing how far Woman's slid since she's hooked up with Flair. She was great as the flirtatious femme fatale looking to get a piece of the World champion; now she not only doesn't talk much, but when she does she sounds awful. I can't figure this out, and it's not as simple as not trying to outshine Flair, not that she could anyway. JJ Dillon was still highly effective as Flair's manager/second while working under many of the same limitations Nancy is here.

 

Luger's not very good at all. Watch what happens after Corny tells him that he (Corny) has insurance. It seems like Luger was supposed to say something like, "Well, if you get in my face again, they're gonna have to pay off!" Instead, he totally fluffs the line, then just shrugs it off. Someone should have been working with this guy on his interviews day and night, or else they should have given him a mouthpiece. Paul Ellering was still around at the time, so he could have fit the bill nicely.

 

Nice to see Arn back, and his return is probably why the MX-as-Horsemen idea was shelved. At that time, Ole was still considered an active member, and for the early part of their classic run in '86, they were a trio while Ole was hurt, so they figured that the group could get by until a fourth member was found (or, in Barry's case, returned.)

 

Why was the Mothership three hours that night? Maybe to make up for some upcoming shortened shows due to Braves games?

LOVE it anytime Prince Charles is mentioned in American pop culture. It's a bygone reference at this point I think.

The special guests on the Louisville Slugger today are the number one couple on America. Cornette doesn’t mean Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Elizabeth Taylor and Richards Burton or even Prince Charles and Lady Diana, he’s talking about Ric Flair and Woman! Cornette starts with his usual gushing over Woman, referring to her as ‘a paragon of sartorial pulchritude’, but is glad that Ric Flair took time out of his busy schedule to show all these rednecks what ‘class’ looks like. Cornette says how Lex Luger has had the audacity to come out here the past few weeks claiming he’s going to be the next World Heavyweight champion, but he knows Ric Flair and knows that he’s not going to relinquish that strap. Flair says how Luger has promised everyone that if he gets him in the ring with the title on the line, no interference, maybe in a cage, he’ll be the next World Champion. He forgets though, that to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man! Cornette says that Luger doesn’t know a wristlock from a wristwatch and that’s why he blames all these outside activities like Woman and Ole Anderson, it’s because he’s got to make excuses. At this point Lex comes down the aisle and into the ring to confront them. He first checks Cornette has insurance and then warns him if he opens his trap again he’ll need to cash it in (or at least that’s what I think he was meant to say as he botches the punch line). He tells Flair that the only reason he’s not breaking him in half right now is because the World title is not on the line and he’s not letting him off so easily. Flair tells him if he gets in his face today he’s going to kick his ass and to think about it as they’re out of here. When he turns his back on him, Luger grabs him by the shoulder saying he’s not finished with him and Flair responds with a slap. Lex comes for Flair but he pulls Woman between them and she then slaps Luger. Ole Anderson comes out to help Flair but Lex is handling them both when Arn Anderson runs out, grabs Woman’s shoe and nails Luger in the back of the head with it. The Horsemen go to work on Luger and a couple of jobbers come out to help but get nowhere. Eventually Mike Rotundo and Eddie Gilbert rush to help and the Horsemen get out of there.

 

On the whole I liked this, especially with the return of Arn. Woman was pretty stilted with her slap and it could have easily been any female in that role considering how little she actually did (she didn’t say one word and was just stood next to Ric). Could they not find anyone better to make the save than Gilbert and Rotundo though? Where were the Steiners at this point? Don’t know why the Horsemen fled when those two came out as I would’ve easily fancied their chances against them!

Great stuff by the Horsemen. Luger was pretty damn over as a babyface and this had to help with that. How will WCW handle Sting coming back with Luger already positioned as the heir apparent anyway?
