Borne is upset that Kerry won't wrestle him. He calls Kerry a coward and CHRIS VON ERICH, who Matt calls "the Von Erich family gimmick", shows up to ask what's going on. He's pretty whiney and doesn't get to say much before Matt slaps the *shit* out of him and throws him around. Kerry is out quickly to save and Borne is officially a heel. He's really good here.

Borne is incredible here--perfectly justified in his frustration until he just goes too far and cheap-shots Chris and puts a pretty quick, nasty beatdown on him. "MAYBE THAT'LL GET HIM TO FIGHT!" Poor Chris...Matt just totally eviscerated him on the mic in Lawler-esque fashion.

Did anyone ever see Chris Von Erich and Dawna in the same place at the same time?

Matt Borne should have been thrown in jail for child abuse for what he did to poor Chris Von Erich. The youngest Von Erich really has absolutely no business being anywhere near a wrestling ring, as he isn't even a passable promo here, but with his bloodlines, it was inevitable.

Chris looks and sounds more like a ten year-old than someone who's nearly twenty-one and ready to debut as a wrestler in a little more than a month (June 22). I don't think I'm looking forward to seeing him wrestle, to say the least.

Borne could have been just as good a crazy heel for a major company without the Doink facepaint. He needed to sound a little less like Piper on the stick, but otherwise the tools were all there.

Matt Borne says how there was a tournament and the winner of that tournament got to face Kerry Von Erich for the Texas title. He won that tournament, walked right through it, but Kerry doesn’t want to get in the ring with him. He thought that the people out here respected him for standing up for what he believes in, but he was wrong. He believes that the Texas title should be around his waist and to do that he’s got to wrestle Kerry. He’s showing his true colours though by not wrestling him, he’s a coward and these people showed their true colours by standing behind him. Chris Von Erich comes out and Borne calls him ‘the Von Erich family gimmick’ and wonders if his mum likes his permed hair? He asks Chris why they call his brother the ‘Modern Day Warrior’ when he won’t fight? What will it take for his brother to get in the ring and fight him? Chris says how Kerry let him have a shot at the World title and he was beaten in record time, at which point Borne stiffly backhands him across the face before throwing him head first into the ring apron. Kerry Von Erich, Jeff Jarrett and Jimmy Jack Funk come out to check on Chris and Borne wonders if that will get him to fight?

Borne was tremendous here and this was even better than the previous interview after he’d got the Texas title shot. Chris Von Erich is tiny, like Pink Assassin levels of tiny. He seemed pretty nervous and uncertain out there and that back hand across the face was brutal. You can’t help but feel sad for Chris knowing the end result with how much he wanted to be a wrestler, but because of his genes it was just never going to be.

  • GSR changed the title to [1990-05-05-USWA-Championship Sports] Matt Borne and Chris Von Erich
